Rideshare vehicles should offer a sense of safety. Often, riders rely on those vehicles to provide them with a safe option to get to their destinations when they cannot, for whatever reason, drive for themselves. Unfortunately, Uber drivers receive no more training than the average passenger vehicle driver. With many of those drivers spending long hours on the road, including pushing the limits allowed by the app, accidents can occur all too easily.
If you suffered injuries in an Uber accident, a Griffin rideshare accident lawyer can help you pursue compensation for the injuries sustained in the accident.
Liability in Griffin Uber Accidents
After an Uber accident in Griffin, many rideshare passengers wonder who bears liability: the Uber driver, or Uber directly?
Employers do often share liability with their employees, particularly when they take dangerous actions or have potentially hazardous policies that raise the risk that their drivers will cause a collision. To help acknowledge this, Uber provides a comprehensive insurance policy that covers its drivers, including both rideshare drivers and delivery drivers, when they cause an accident. After an accident in an Uber vehicle or with an Uber driver, you can take advantage of that policy.
Keep in mind, however, that Uber drivers do not automatically bear liability for an accident. Sometimes, other drivers may cause an accident with an Uber driver, and you may need to pursue compensation through that driver’s insurance company for any injuries you may have sustained.
Compensation After an Uber Accident
Because Uber does offer a comprehensive insurance policy, passengers can often recover considerably more compensation for their injuries than they could have recovered following an accident caused by another driver, including a passenger vehicle driver.
At John Foy, we cannot guarantee the compensation you will recover after an Uber accident, regardless of the extent of the injuries you sustain. However, we can help you take a comprehensive look at your losses so that you can develop a claim that includes these critical elements.
The Cost of Your Medical Treatment
Medical treatment can prove incredibly expensive after an Uber accident, especially if you sustained substantial injuries. The cost of those medical treatments will serve as a vital foundation in your injury claim.
Calculate all the costs you have spent on medical treatment for your Griffin Uber accident injuries, including the cost of emergency medical care, the cost of any surgeries or procedures you required in order to treat your injuries, and the cost of any ongoing care, including physical and occupational therapy.
The Cost of Any Lost Wages
Wage loss can prove incredibly detrimental after any type of accident, including an Uber accident. You may miss considerable time at work while you recover from your Uber accident injuries, leaving you struggling financially long after the incident. As part of your claim, you can include the cost of those lost wages.
Talk to an Uber accident attorney in Griffin if your Uber accident injuries caused damages that will permanently prevent you from returning to work in your field. In some cases, you can also claim compensation for lost earning potential related to your Uber accident.
Compensation for Pain and Suffering
Uber accident claims may also contain a “general damages” section that will help provide compensation for the non-financial challenges that you have faced as a direct result of your accident. Talk to an Uber accident lawyer in Griffin about your challenges and struggles, including:
- The physical pain you may have had to contend with because of your injuries, including ongoing pain related to your injuries
- The emotional strain you have undergone as a direct result of your Uber accident injuries, including any diagnoses like depression or PTSD
- Any activities, plans, or hobbies you have had to miss out on after your accident because of your injuries
Compensation for pain and suffering may not help you regain the mobility and strength you may have enjoyed before your accident, but it can provide you with settlement funds to help rebuild many areas of your life.
How a Griffin Uber Accident Attorney Can Help
Dealing with an Uber accident claim on your own can prove incredibly stressful. Uber might offer a comprehensive insurance policy, but insurance agents may not automatically work with you to provide the compensation you really deserve for your injuries. An Uber accident lawyer, on the other hand, can help fight on your behalf–and keep your needs at the forefront, rather than focusing on the needs of the insurance company.
A Lawyer Can Help with Evidence Collection
Who caused your accident? As a passenger in an Uber vehicle, you may not have contributed in any way to the accident, but you may nevertheless have a hard time proving exactly who bears liability for your injuries. Evidence collection can help establish liability.
Furthermore, your lawyer can help you collect the evidence you need to prove the injuries you suffered and the limitations you faced as a direct result of the accident, which may make it easier for you to put together your claim.
A Lawyer Can Fight for You
When you have serious injuries, you may need serious compensation. An Uber accident lawyer in Griffin can help make sure that your needs are at the forefront of your injury claim.
You have serious medical bills and substantial medical needs related to the Uber accident. An Uber accident lawyer can make sure that the insurance company does not ignore the challenges that have resulted from your accident, making it easier for you to get the compensation you deserve.
