Pursuing a settlement after a car accident is always best left in the hands of a capable lawyer. This statement holds true even more if you are in an accident involving an Uber vehicle, as proving liability and dealing with powerful legal teams and insurance companies become more complicated.
If you are in a car accident involving an Uber vehicle, contact an Albany rideshare accident lawyer right away. This successful law firm will fight to win you the settlement you deserve.
Why You Should Consult with an Albany Uber Accident Lawyer Following an Uber-Involved Accident
When an accident occurs between privately owned motor vehicles, each party is represented by a single insurance company. The parties’ respective lawyers work to negotiate a settlement according to Georgia’s negligence and fault laws and the extent of injuries and property damage. This process is not always so straightforward with Uber accidents.
Uber Is a Powerful Company with Powerful Representation
Uber drivers have their own car insurance, but while they operate as Uber drivers, either transporting passengers or waiting to be dispatched, they are also insured by Uber. Uber is a company, and like any other company, its goal is to make money and keep that money.
If you file a claim after an Uber-involved accident, and the Uber driver is clearly at fault, you may be offered a settlement. That settlement, though, is likely to be a low offer. Uber’s legal team and insurance companies will offer as little as possible, saving themselves lots of money while denying you what you truly deserve.
With an Albany Uber accident attorney from John Foy & Associates managing your case, you will not be coerced into accepting less than you are entitled to. Your lawyer will not be intimidated by powerful legal teams or convincing insurance adjusters. They will also know the value of your case, using that knowledge and their legal expertise to fight for the highest settlement possible.
Dougherty County Car Accident Statistics
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), there were 3,066 car crashes in Dougherty County for the last full year of data collection available. Of that total, 18 involved fatalities.
Uber vehicles have brought new levels of convenience for people trying to get from one place to another or having food from a favorite restaurant delivered to their door. Uber has also contributed to reduced numbers of impaired drivers. However, with more Ubers on the road, your chances of having an accident involving an Uber vehicle, either as the driver, a passenger, or as another car on the road, naturally increase.

How Your Uber Accident Attorney in Albany Will Fight for You
After your accident, you need to focus on recovery. If your injuries are severe, you will need a settlement to compensate for the losses those injuries cause. Even if your injuries are temporary and will heal with time, you still deserve to recover medical expenses, lost wages, and property damage.
Your lawyer from John Foy & Associates, the Strong Arm of Georgia, will thoroughly review your situation and build a case that lives up to that name.
Proving Liability and Fault
Your lawyer understands Georgia’s negligence laws and how to prove the responsible party’s liability for causing the accident, your resulting injuries, and the costs associated with those injuries, both physical and emotional.
For personal injury claims, Georgia works under a modified comparative fault system. Those at fault are responsible for compensating victims. However, if victims are found to hold some responsibility for the accident, their settlement is reduced in proportion to their percentage of fault. If the injured party bears more than 49% of the responsibility for the accident, even if their injuries are severe, they cannot receive a settlement.
If it is at all possible, Uber’s legal team and insurance company will work hard to inflate your level of responsibility for the accident to reduce their payout. Your lawyer from John Foy & Associates will work harder to ensure they do not get away with such unethical practices.
Managing Your Case
You must file a car accident claim within two years of the date of the accident, as per Georgia’s statute of limitations. Contact an Albany Uber accident lawyer immediately after your accident, and rest easy knowing that all filings will be prepared accurately and submitted before that deadline.
Your lawyer will continue to collect evidence to prove the extent of your injuries, property damage, emotional trauma, and loss to your quality or enjoyment of life.
The only person you will need to speak to about your case is your lawyer. Your attorney will handle all communication and negotiations with Uber’s or other parties’ legal and insurance representatives. If these other parties refuse to offer a reasonable settlement and your case goes to court, your lawyer will represent you at trial.
