Does State Farm Offer Accident Forgiveness?

State Farm does not offer accident forgiveness in most cases. You cannot purchase accident forgiveness as an add-on to your policy. However, in some states, the company may offer this benefit to long-term members.

Therefore, if you end up in a crash and have State Farm insurance, it’s crucial that you work with an Atlanta car accident lawyer for help identifying the liable party and showing that someone else caused the collision.

An attorney can also provide more information about the services offered by State Farm.

Does State Farm Provide Accident Forgiveness in Georgia?

State Farm does not list accident forgiveness among its competitive Georgia auto insurance discounts and potential savings. The company does not offer this benefit to most of its members, only providing it in certain states.

Because State Farm does not provide accident forgiveness in Georgia, your insurance rates will increase after a crash if the company determines that you caused the collision. Fortunately, you can rely on an Atlanta personal injury lawyer to review your situation and potentially prove the liability of another party.

If someone else caused your crash through negligence, they should have to cover your losses. Additionally, the accident should have a smaller effect on your insurance rates if someone else hit you.

How Does a Lawyer Prove Fault in a Crash?

Attorneys need to investigate what happened to cause a crash to identify the liable parties. In many cases, an investigation will involve:

• Visiting the scene of a collision
• Interviewing all eyewitnesses
• Getting a copy of the official accident report
• Collecting videos that show the crash

Hiring a lawyer immediately after a crash will give them a stronger chance of collecting all relevant evidence.

What Does State Farm Do After an Accident?

The steps State Farm takes after an accident will depend on several factors, including who caused the crash and who carries the State Farm insurance policy. You can learn more about what to expect if:

State Farm Represents the Other Driver

If State Farm represents the driver who hit you and caused your injuries, the insurance company may end up covering your losses through a settlement. An attorney can help you go through the insurance process, explaining how to file a car accident claim with State Farm and providing support through settlement negotiations.

Generally, you should avoid taking the first settlement that State Farm offers. These initial settlements often provide subpar compensation as the company attempts to undervalue your losses and save itself money.

An attorney can review any settlement offers that you receive, comparing them against your losses and negotiating for a stronger settlement on your behalf.

State Farm Represents You

If you have insurance through State Farm, you will need to notify them about your accident, even if someone else caused the crash. State Farm representatives will want details from you and can provide information about where you can take your vehicle for repairs.

State Farm may push the other driver’s insurance company to pay you after a crash. They may also cover your losses if you caused the collision.

Note that State Farm may increase your rates after any crash, because the company does not offer accident forgiveness. Your rates will likely go up much more if you caused the collision.

What Damages Does State Farm Cover?

State Farm may cover many of the losses you experience in an accident. Depending on the scope of the policies purchased by the at-fault driver, State Farm may need to provide compensation for your medical expenses and vehicle repairs.

The full extent of the money available through a State Farm insurance claim will vary depending on the terms of the relevant policy. State Farm will not provide compensation that exceeds policy terms, even if your healthcare expenses exceed the coverage.

If your losses exceed the funds available through insurance coverage, you may need to consider other options to get compensation. In this situation, a car accident attorney could consider a lawsuit against the liable driver.
