However, experiencing a car accident involving a Lyft vehicle is anything but convenient. If you are entitled to financial compensation, your lawyer will build a solid case and work for the highest possible settlement.
Why You Need Representation from a Lyft Accident Lawyer in South Fulton
Whether you are a Lyft passenger, driver, or operating another vehicle involved in the crash, it is in your best interest to seek legal counsel after the accident.
To win a settlement after any car accident, the victim must prove another party’s liability–that another party is responsible for compensating the victim for their injuries. Then, the responsible party’s insurance covers, or pays, that compensation.
When a Lyft vehicle is involved in an accident, determining who is responsible for providing financial compensation to the victim can be trickier, but your SSouth Fulton personal injury lawyer from John Foy & Associates will know how to manage the process.
Georgia Rideshare Regulations
Georgia Code §40-1-193 lists regulations for rideshare companies, such as Lyft, and rideshare drivers, most of whom work as independent contractors and not employees of the rideshare company. Your lawyer will review whether the company’s or driver’s noncompliance with these regulations contributed to your accident.
Insurance Complications
Lyft drivers, when they are not working, are covered by their own personal driver’s insurance. When they are working, whether awaiting dispatch, driving to a pickup, or transporting passengers, they are covered by additional insurance.
This coverage is important for protecting drivers, passengers, and other third parties involved in an accident with the Lyft vehicle. However, if the different insurance companies each try to deflect responsibility onto the other, the victim is the one who suffers without a settlement until a resolution.
A Powerful Company
Recent assessments show the Lyft rideshare company’s worth as $4.7 billion. A company this wealthy is represented and protected by powerful legal teams and insurance companies. Whether you are a Lyft driver, passenger, or other third party involved in the accident, you need your own representation to ensure you are treated fairly by such powerful entitles.
Your South Fulton Lyft accident attorney from the Strong Arm of Georgia will provide that representation, working through any complexities with efficiency and legal expertise, ensuring that you, the victim, are not caught in the crossfire of a battle between insurance companies or taken advantage of by high-powered legal teams.
Fulton County Car Accidents
For the last full year of data collection, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) reported 58,405 car accidents, with 178 including fatalities. There were suspected serious injuries in 971. These numbers are alarming, and the outcomes are even more tragic when victims do not receive a fair settlement for their losses.
Your lawyer from John Foy & Associates will work to ensure you do not face that additional tragedy.
Common Losses from a Lyft Accident in South Fulton
As in the 971 cases referenced earlier, car accidents can cause serious injuries. Such injuries can include brain trauma, spinal cord damage or paralysis, broken bones, debilitating back and neck injuries, nerve damage, amputations, and burns, among others. The effects of these injuries reach many areas of your life.
Physical and Financial Losses
Injuries this severe can change your life, requiring surgery, hospitalization, long-term rehabilitation, or interventions. You may never return to your pre-accident physical condition and may not be able to work, care for yourself or your family, or simply move through your daily life as you once did.
These changes come at a great financial cost. There are overwhelming medical expenses, lost income, and lost future earnings. You may have additional expenses if you need to hire others to fulfill childcare or household duties you can no longer perform or adjust your living space to better accommodate your changed abilities.
Emotional Losses
The National Institute of Health confirms that victims of motor vehicle accidents can suffer “serious psychological consequences” along with the physical pain of their injuries. First, the accident, then the injuries add to emotional distress. If your injuries leave you isolated from friends and coworkers, unable to participate in activities you enjoy, and unable or contribute to the finances and upkeep of your household, you may experience feelings of depression, despair, and loneliness.
That emotional suffering demands acknowledgment. A financial award may not restore you to your previous physical and emotional state, but it can give you access to continued medical and psychological care and to experiences or activities better suited to your new condition. It may also provide a healing sense of justice, affirming that your pain matters and holding those responsible for it accountable.
Property Losses
As the driver of a Lyft vehicle involved in an accident, your property losses, your damaged or wrecked car, will bring significant hardship. As a passenger, you may have had luggage or devices damaged in the crash. Whatever the case, your South Fulton Lyft accident lawyer will account for that property loss during settlement negotiations.
