How Our Bus Accident Lawyers in Albany Can Help You
Bus accident lawyers give you legal options for pursuing claims. They are your advocate for your rights to compensation after an accident that wasn’t your fault. In nearly all bus accident cases, someone besides yourself is liable for your accident.
This means you’ll be owed 100% of the compensation, instead of a portion like you would if you shared liability. Our bus accident lawyers in Albany, GA, will research the facts of your case to find the responsible parties, tally up how much compensation you need to become whole, and fight for that amount.
If negotiations fail between your lawyer and the insurance company, we are not afraid to go to trial. We have over 25 years of experience and we have deep pocketbooks. Let us be your shield in complicated bus accident cases, like the following.
School Bus Accidents in Georgia
School districts are supposed to have auto insurance policies for bus drivers, and most bus drivers also carry their own insurance. Since an employer is liable for their employees, it may be possible to sue the school.
Due to sovereign immunity, a school is exempt from a lawsuit—unless they have motor vehicle insurance that covers the ownership, maintenance, operation, and use of a school bus under Georgia law. Georgia law allows districts to purchase this insurance, but doesn’t require it. Also, you can only get paid up to the limit of that policy.
Thankfully, there are often multiple parties that can become part of your lawsuit. Combining their policies could provide enough money for your recovery. To see if this is the case for you, speak with our bus accident lawyers.
City Bus Accidents in Georgia
Across Georgia, millions of people use public transit every day to get around, and like schools, government entities manage these city bus systems. Thus, if you get into an accident with one, you could face many restrictions on getting compensation because of government protections.
One of the most important things you can do if you get in an accident with a city bus is to start your case as soon as possible. You may have only a few weeks to start your claim before the law denies you compensation because of the statute of limitations.
Sadly, since the government writes the rules, they’re often in their favor. However, this doesn’t make your case impossible. Instead, hire a bus accident lawyer in Albany, GA, with experience in city bus accident cases and let them handle the details.

Private Bus Accidents in Georgia
Private bus accidents have their own set of complications because federal regulation gets involved. Commercial drivers who transport people have to follow FMCSA regulations and Georgia regulations on common carriers.
However, if we find that bus drivers or bus companies broke these regulations, that opens them up to liability. Our attorneys will assess whether this has happened and, if those breaches caused your injuries, build a case to get you compensation through their insurer.
Bus accidents have a lot of layers of regulation, some of which increase the difficulty of lawsuits. Nevertheless, there are still ways to get compensation after a bus accident if you contact a qualified bus accident lawyer as soon as possible after your accident.
