Compensation Available in a Johns Creek Sexual Abuse Lawsuit
A sexual abuse lawyer serving Johns Creek knows that getting compensated for your losses does not change what you have had to endure. Your attorney wants you to think about how your lawsuit can lead a liable party to make meaningful changes and avoid harming others. They can ask for economic and non-economic damages for you for many reasons, including:
Pain and Suffering
The pain and suffering you experience as a result of sex abuse could affect you for the rest of your life. Your lawyer wants you to get help for anxiety, depression, and other pain and suffering relating to this abuse. They account for these and similar losses in your lawsuit.
Loss of Enjoyment of Life
Sexual abuse can impact your life to the point where you are no longer interested in socializing with family and friends and engaging in activities you previously enjoyed. A sexual abuse attorney serving Johns Creek learns how a perpetrator’s actions have disrupted your life. They can include your loss of enjoyment of life in your damages request.
Medical Expenses
Bruises and lacerations are two common injuries reported in sexual abuse cases. Treating these and other injuries can be expensive. Your lawyer wants you to receive medical care for your injuries for as long as you need it. They review your medical costs and can request compensation for these.
The defendant could offer a settlement that covers these and other damages. By approving this proposal, you give up your right to take your case in front of a judge or jury. You are not legally obligated to settle your case. If you want to bring your case to trial, your lawyer remains on your side and supports your decision to do so.
Can You File a Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Anonymously?
Most civil courts will allow you to submit your sexual abuse lawsuit anonymously. Your lawyer can petition the court to keep your name confidential. If approved, you will be referred to by a different name during your legal proceedings. Your decision not to disclose your identity will not affect your case outcome.
Filing a sexual abuse lawsuit anonymously can provide you and your family with an extra level of security. This option can protect you and your family from unwanted media attention. In addition, you and your loved ones could avoid harassment or threats.
Meet with a lawyer if you have concerns about your name being released publicly if you sue someone as part of a sex abuse lawsuit. Your lawyer can explain how you can report sexual abuse anonymously. They can provide you with the peace of mind that you can make a perpetrator take responsibility for their actions without putting yourself or your family in danger.
