Like any car accident, getting into an accident while riding Uber can leave you with enormous costs and injuries. These can affect your physical and financial health for the rest of your life. Don’t pay for your damages out of pocket. Instead, turn to us.
John Foy & Associates can help you with your Uber accident claim. We have rideshare accident lawyers in Athens with experience in these cases. Our firm will assist you throughout the process and handle all the negotiations with your interests in mind.
Who Should Be Investigated for Responsibility?
Several parties could have caused your Uber accident, so it’s important to know who needs to be investigated. The three most common parties involved are your driver, Uber, and a third-party driver.
All passengers can sue their drivers if the driver caused an accident, no matter if they’re a part of Uber or not. The same goes for third-party drivers. These situations are just like other car accidents, but when can Uber be sued?
Uber is required to hire drivers with clean driving records and sometimes loans out vehicles for drivers. They could get sued if they hire a poor driver or offer a vehicle with poor maintenance. Also, if the driver has insufficient insurance, Uber has policies you can file a claim against in certain circumstances.
Why You Need an Uber Accident Lawyer
You need a lawyer with Uber accident experience. We know the details of Uber’s insurance policies and know how to find the party who has the most responsibility and has the compensation you need. We’ll do things like:
- Find all the evidence for your claim against the at-fault party
- Consult with experts to get testimony about what happened and how your injuries have affected you
- Handle all communications from insurance companies or Uber on your behalf.
- Represent your best interests and keep you informed of what’s happening
- Take your claim to trial if negotiations fail to work
Uber and the insurance companies have many lawyers on their side to protect their interests. You deserve to have competent legal counsel on your side as well. John Foy does not ask for any payment unless we win your case, so there is no risk in working with an Uber accident lawyer in Athens to handle your case.
Damages You Could Receive As Compensation
What can you receive compensation for after your accident? Quite a lot of things. We know these as damages in legal terms. Some of these include:
- Property damage
- Lost wages
- Disability
- Medical expenses
- Mental anguish
- Pain and suffering
- Loss of consortium
- Wrongful death
These are just a few of the possibilities. The ones you qualify for depend on the evidence we find in your case. Our team will seek all potential avenues and calculate your damages accurately so that you get the full value of your case.
There is also the possibility for punitive damages if extreme negligence caused your accident, as described by Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OCGA) § 51-12-5.1. If your case qualifies, the court will grant you additional money beyond your costs.

Distance is no obstacle. We work with clients across the country and make sure every one of them feels taken care of, no matter how far the call travels.
Ignore Lowball Insurance Settlement Offers
It’s quite possible that an insurance company will approach you with a settlement offer or asking for information about your accident. Be very careful about speaking with them. They are looking for evidence to lower your settlement or want you to grab a smaller amount fast before you know the full value of your case.
This is one reason you should speak with an Uber accident attorney as soon as possible after your accident. If you tell them you have a lawyer, they’re legally obligated to go through them to get the information you’re looking for.
If you’re forced into a conversation, speak only the facts and say as little as possible. Beware of polite language and leading questions to say that things are well or that you’re fine. They will use that statement against you.
