Motorcycles are fun and fast, allowing riders to maneuver in and out of traffic quickly. These factors can also contribute to motorcycle accidents when other drivers are not looking out for bikes. If you or someone you know has been injured in a crash while riding your motorcycle, you may be eligible for compensation from those at fault.
John Foy & Associates has recovered over $1 billion in insurance settlements and jury awards for individuals just like you. Motorcycles Are Often Overlooked
Because of their small size and relative rarity on the roads, it is easy for other drivers to overlook motorcycles. This puts their riders in grave danger. Motorcycles are only 2% of the vehicles on Georgia’s roads, but they are involved in 21% of driver fatalities.
Bikes cannot withstand crashes or protect their occupants in the way other vehicles can. However, they do offer some benefits to help motorcyclists avoid collisions. Motorcycles are agile, easy to maneuver through traffic, and can stop and swerve quickly.
Despite these advantages, there are several common ways accidents happen:
- Head-on collisions: This crash is usually devastating or even deadly for the rider.
- Cars turning left: These can happen when a driver turns left in an intersection and does not see the bike. They can also occur when a biker is trying to pass a car.
- Lane splitting: This action is against the law in Georgia, but some motorcyclists may ride between cars during traffic jams.
- Speeding: Whether bikes or cars are speeding, the increased force of impact during a collision can be deadly.
- Consumption of alcohol or drugs: These substances can impair your ability to see and react in time to avoid a crash.
- Road hazards: Potholes, debris, wet roads, and roads under construction can all cause a rider to lose control of their motorcycle.
In addition to these instances, whenever drivers or bike riders fail to follow general road safety regulations, a motorcyclist can be at risk of injury or death. Disregarding traffic lights and signs, not signaling lane changes, and driving too fast for the weather can make the roads dangerous for riders. When a crash happens, you will need a Russell County motorcycle accident attorney to determine who is to blame.
Potential Value of a Russell County Motorcycle Accident Claim
When you have suffered a crash on a bike, the injuries can be catastrophic. A low-speed collision into the rear of a car can pitch you over the handlebars, putting you at risk of falling into traffic. Even when you wear All The Gear All The Time (ATGATT), you can easily suffer spinal cord or spine injuries, broken bones, head and facial damage, amputations, road rash, internal bleeding, and burns.
In addition to economic losses such as doctor bills and repairs to your bike, there are numerous other damages you can seek. Some are considered non-economic and are meant to compensate you for the pain and suffering you endure. Our clients who are seeking an insurance settlement or jury award often ask for the following damages:
- Emergency transportation costs, such as an ambulance or helicopter
- Travel expenses for treatment
- Medications
- Mobility devices such as crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs
- Hospital costs such as ICU, ER, and surgery
- Scarring or disfigurement
- Amputation
- Paralysis
- Loss of income
- Loss of earning potential if you can no longer work in your career field
- Physical and emotional rehabilitation therapy
- Loss of enjoyment of life
- Loss of consortium with your spouse or life partner
You can even experience damage that does not appear immediately. Some conditions can take weeks to develop, adding to the medical bills you already face. Understanding how to estimate the potential value of your claim requires the assistance of a John Foy motorcycle accident lawyer in Russell County.
How John Foy & Associates Can Help Your Motorcycle Accident Case
Insurance companies are focused on making money, not helping their customers. They may make a low initial offer and encourage you to take it. If you accept a settlement before all your injuries have been diagnosed, you could be left with tremendous bills you cannot pay.
At John Foy, we connect you with a motorcycle accident attorney in Russell County who will push back against these underhanded tactics. Our team will fight to ensure you receive what you are owed. If your case proceeds to a personal injury lawsuit, our lawyers will litigate tirelessly on your behalf.
We start by building a solid case showing the negligence and liability of those at fault. We also collect evidence showing the extent of your injuries to support your damage claim. Every crash is unique, but since motorcycle riders suffer more severe injuries that often affect them for their lifetimes, settlements tend to be higher than in other accident cases.

Filing Your Russell County Motorcycle Accident Claim
It is essential to contact a motorcycle accident lawyer immediately after your crash. John Foy attorneys will visit you in the hospital or at home to get your case started as soon as possible. When you turn over the details to us, you can focus on getting better instead of understanding the complex legal system.
Our team will collect evidence to demonstrate the four elements of negligence:
- Those to blame owed you a duty of care.
- They failed in that duty to you.
- Your injuries are a direct result of their failure.
- You have accrued expenses related to your injuries.
We pull together information and reports from numerous sources that can be used for insurance claims or court cases. We ask for any bills you already have and will seek out additional documentation, such as:
- Traffic or security camera videos
- Video from witness cellphones or dashcams
- Police reports
- Photographs of the scene
- Photos of your injuries and the damage to your bike
- Statements from witnesses
- Testimony from accident and medical experts
- Medical records
- Cell phone records of all drivers involved
You must settle your insurance claim or file your lawsuit within two years after the date of the accident in Georgia. This is called the statute of limitations, and if you fail to file in time, you may lose your right to sue forever. If the unthinkable happens and you die from your injuries, your family can file a wrongful death suit within two years after the date you passed away.
