Uber and Lyft, among other companies that provide ridesharing services, have revolutionized personal transportation. Ridesharing has taken over what was formerly the domain of subway rail, taxis, buses, and more expensive taxis and limousines.
According to the current statistics, over one in five Americans has used a rideshare service. The convenience and speed of service at an affordable price are responsible for unprecedented success in such a short time. Sadly, some unfortunate passengers pay the price for these benefits when their Uber is involved in an accident.
John Foy & Associates are here to protect your rights against ridesharing services if you are involved in a rideshare accident. Your case will be analyzed, and you will be compensated for your pain and suffering.
When to Call a Rideshare Accident Lawyer in Rome, GA
With ridesharing, people can get around town more easily and earn more money. The ridesharing industry is growing, however, and more and more Uber and Lyft vehicles are getting into collisions. But victims may not always get the compensation they deserve.
Before speaking with Uber or an insurance adjuster, you should consult with a lawyer about your case. Having legal assistance will enable you to have a stronger negotiating position with Uber and get the compensation you deserve instead of being lowballed.
What to Do After a Rome Rideshare Accident
In the aftermath of a crash, you should take five steps to protect your ability to move forward with a claim.
- Notify local law enforcement
Be sure to call the local law enforcement and have them on the scene when you have a crash. It is possible to have the police document the crash and give statements from all parties involved, whether you are a passenger or a driver.
- Seek medical attention
After an accident, it is vital to seek medical attention. Consult a doctor or paramedic for treatment options. Medical records can also be obtained to help build a strong compensation case.
- Be thorough in gathering evidence
Photograph your visible injuries and the scene of the accident. Witnesses of the accident can also give you statements to support your claim. The more evidence you have, the stronger your case will be.
- File an insurance claim
Your insurance company needs to know about damage to your vehicle if you were a driver in another vehicle. Make sure your insurance company knows about what happened right away. There’s no need for you to go into detail right away.
- Consult an attorney
It is important to have legal counsel on your side if you want to protect your rights. To hold negligent parties responsible and to recover compensation for your damages, you must hire a lawyer.
Eligible Rideshare Accident Injury Compensation
If you’ve been injured in an Uber or Lyft accident, you may be entitled to economic and non-economic damages, depending on how severe your injuries are, the extent of the liability, the driver’s history, etc.
According to the types of injuries suffered in Uber and Lyft accidents, here are some of the most common examples. Economic damages in Uber and Lyft accidents include:
- Medical bills
- Emergency room visits

- Lost income
Additionally, victims of rideshare accidents may be able to recover non-economic compensation for their physical and emotional pain and suffering following a crash, as well as loss of quality of life damages.

How Much Compensation Is Available After a Rome Rideshare Accident?
There is no set amount of money paid out to rideshare accident victims in Georgia. Rather, the total compensation amount will vary depending on several factors. A skilled rideshare accident attorney in Rome will examine the case, the severity of the injuries, how long it takes a person to recover, and the extent of the property damage.
It may be necessary to work with medical and financial experts who can produce reports for insurance carriers or a personal injury jury to help determine an adequate compensation amount.
Uber and Lyft – Two Companies with Similar Insurance Problems
Many passengers have a negative view of Uber and Lyft despite these services being giants in the gig economy. Lyft and Uber drivers have been accused of assaulting dozens of women.
In the past, Lyft was viewed as a safer alternative to Uber because of its “frat culture,” but it appears that may no longer be the case.
The number of lawsuits filed against Lyft, the severity of the allegations, and the relative size of Uber vs. Lyft are all cited as reasons for the high number of complaints. A background check is the first step in Uber and Lyft’s driver screening process.
