To Get Full Compensation, a Claim Is Necessary
Sometimes the organization that operates the bus that injured victims will offer a small settlement to keep them from filing a larger claim against them. Understand that accepting such settlements may be against your best interests. Doing so often diminishes the total value of your claim, resulting in far less compensation overall.
If you want total compensation for your injuries, property damage, and other damages, the best action is to work with a Peachtree Corners bus accident lawyer. You can determine how much compensation you are due with proper legal counsel. Then, your bus accident attorney in Peachtree Corners will help you develop a compelling case highlighting the liable party’s negligence.
Start the Investigation
The first step toward recovering the money you deserve after suffering in a bus accident is investigating with the assistance of a bus accident lawyer in Peachtree Corners. Hiring a lawyer is essential for this step because they will have the expertise needed to collect valuable evidence that identifies an at-fault party. In some instances, several parties may be placed under scrutiny during the investigation.
Some forms of investigation that are likely to take place include manual reviews of camera footage from the accident scene, interviews with other victims and witnesses, and an assessment of the bus company’s internal documentation. In addition to these actions, your Peachtree Corners bus accident attorney will also investigate your injuries to identify what losses you have suffered.
Have Your Damages Calculated
Your damages describe the financial impact your accident-related losses have caused. Included in your damages are economic and non-economic damages. While economic damages are usually easy to calculate, accurately determining non-economic damages is often difficult for personal injury claimants.
Economic damages include the monetary losses incurred from an accident, while non-economic damages represent non-monetary losses. To calculate economic damages, you can simply add the receipts or bills associated with injuries or property damage caused by the accident. Non-economic damages, however, require plaintiffs to identify the monetary value of intangible losses.
For example, if someone suffered a devastating back injury due to a bus accident, they are likely experiencing severe pain and suffering. Through the non-economic damages portions of their claim, they can work to recover compensation for this experience that they are going through. The economic damages would be used to compensate them for the cost of their medical bills and other expenses related to their injuries.

Common Bus Accident Causes
While litigating your bus accident claim, your Peachtree Corners bus accident lawyer and the defendant will attempt to ascertain the cause of the accident. The defendants will work to ensure that minimal fault lies on them, while your attorney will make their best effort to highlight the defendant’s negligence. This is important because the success of your claim depends on your ability to show that the bus driver, bus company, or another party’s negligence caused the accident that injured you.
Some common causes that are often considered in similar cases include:
Poor Bus Driver Training
Because buses are large, complex vehicles that are difficult to operate, drivers require significant training before they are allowed to drive them. If they are not trained effectively, their large numbers of passengers can be endangered. Unfortunately, organizations that operate buses sometimes cut corners in training, making their drivers more likely to make critical mistakes that result in public harm.
Finding out if the bus operator failed to train their employees properly requires significant legwork. Your Peachtree Corners bus accident lawyer will likely need to obtain internal documentation from the bus company and review it thoroughly to find evidence that the minimal required amount of training was not performed.
Failure of Bus Components
Like other motor vehicles, buses are created with hundreds, if not thousands, of individual parts. If too many of these features fail at once, the bus driver may lose their ability to control the vehicle effectively. When this happens, the driver may be caught off guard and unable to correct the bus’s lost capacity.
When a bus accident happens due to a mechanical failure, our Peachtree Corners bus accident lawyers suggest two courses of action; pursue litigation against the bus company or the company that provides them with regular inspections and maintenance. Either of these parties could be liable because they both play some role in ensuring that their vehicles are functional before operation.
Driver Error
Errors made by bus drivers often lead to accidents. For example, a sharp left turn made by a bus driver can leave them in the wrong traffic lane, resulting in a head-on collision. Mistakes happen, but an accident caused by an honest mistake does not relieve the driver or their employer of fault.
If a bus driver’s error caused the bus accident that injured you, the driver might be liable, although this is rare. It is more likely that their employer will be held responsible for the negligent actions of their employee.
