Should You Take a Settlement?
It is never a good idea to accept the first settlement an insurance company offers after your motorcycle accident. First, consult with an attorney who can help you understand whether the offer is fair and will cover your present and future damages.
Sometimes, insurance companies will try to take advantage of your need for cash after an accident. They hope you don’t understand what your case is worth and will intentionally present a low offer. Taking it means waiving your right to future compensation.
Our motorcycle accident attorneys in Martinez know how insurance companies operate, and we’re not going to let them decide what your injuries are worth. We will assess your case and help you fight for a fair settlement that actually makes a difference in your life.
How Our Attorneys Can Help
When you hire our firm, you get an ally who will help you through every step of the legal process. Our goal is to recover maximum compensation that fully accounts for your hardships. Some of the benefits of working with us include:
Case Management
We’ll help you understand your rights and options, file your claim, handle paperwork and communications, and make sure you meet all deadlines. You’ll have the peace of mind of knowing your case is in professional hands while you worry about healing.
Accident Investigation
We’ll investigate your accident to determine what happened and who is responsible. We may refer to the police report, witness testimony, dashcam footage, and other relevant evidence. Once we know who is liable, we can begin to file claims and pursue your case.
Damages Assessment
Our Martinez motorcycle accident attorneys will review your economic and non-economic damages and calculate your maximum compensation. We want to be sure to account for all of your expenses and hardships so that any settlement you receive fully meets your needs and covers your bills.
Damages you can commonly recover after a motorcycle accident include:
- Medical expenses
- Lost wages
- Future medical costs
- Property damages
- Pain and suffering
Settlement Negotiation
When the time comes, we will negotiate with insurance providers for a fair settlement. Hopefully, this will be all it takes to resolve your case positively. Solving legal disputes through negotiations is typically faster and less stressful.
Civil Representation
Sometimes, insurance companies simply refuse to do the right thing. If good-faith negotiations fail, we won’t back away from a fight. We can file a civil suit on your behalf and let a court decide your award.
Affordable Legal Help
We charge for our services based on a contingency fee agreement. You pay nothing up front, and we only recover our fees when we win your case. If we don’t win, you won’t pay. This means you’ll have the same access to quality legal representation as the insurance companies.
What to Do After a Motorcycle Accident
It is easy to feel overwhelmed in the aftermath of your motorcycle accident. However, making the right decisions in the hours and days after your crash can have a profound impact on your health and legal standing.
Get Medical Attention
If you did not receive medical treatment after your accident, go to the doctor as soon as possible, even if you think you feel fine. Some injuries can have delayed symptoms that don’t appear for hours or days after the crash.
Most importantly, seeking medical attention means your injuries will get the treatment they need. However, seeing a doctor—and complying with their orders—also establishes documentation and shows that you are taking your injuries seriously.
Consult With an Attorney
As soon as you are able, contact our motorcycle attorneys in Martinez and tell us what happened. The consultation is free, and if you have a case, we can begin working to secure compensation for your hardships.
File a Police Report
If the police arrived at the scene of your accident, they would have taken care of the report. If not, file a report as soon as possible. In Georgia, you are legally required to report accidents involving injuries to the police.
Contact Your Insurance Company
Even if the accident wasn’t your fault, you’ll still need to tell your insurance company what happened. Refer to your policy for guidelines on reporting accidents, and seek advice from an attorney to protect your rights.
Keep Detailed Records
It is smart to document your expenses after your accident, as well as how the accident has impacted you and your family. This can help your attorney include all of your economic damages and understand if it may be possible to pursue non-economic damages like pain and suffering.
