Ridesharing Services Are Convenient, Affordable, and Popular

Research indicates ridesharing services were the “most preferred” form of personal transportation prior to the start of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This is due in part to the ability to use rideshare services to quickly and easily go from one destination to the next. Plus, rideshare services tend to be more affordable than taxis, and they do not require people to worry about parking or various driving and traffic challenges.

The pandemic is approaching its conclusion. At this point, the demand for rideshare services could increase. People may use ridesharing services as frequently or more so than they did prior to the pandemic.

The rising use of ridesharing services increases the risk of car accidents. If more people are using rideshare services, more drivers and passengers are on the road. The result: there is a greater risk of a ridesharing car accident than ever before.

Rideshare Accidents Can Be Fatal

A recent Uber safety report highlighted the potential impact of rideshare accidents. In the report, researchers noted 90% of fatal Uber accidents occur in urban areas. They also indicated 21% of Uber fatalities involved drivers, and 21% involved passengers.

If a fatal rideshare accident occurs, the victim’s family may be eligible to pursue damages. In this scenario, the victim’s spouse, or the children if there is no spouse, can file a wrongful death lawsuit. If there is neither, the parents may file, and if no family member qualifies, the administrator or executor of the estate can. These family members can seek out compensation from anyone responsible for the rideshare accident.

A wrongful death lawsuit in Georgia can be tough to argue. Regardless, if a family member dies in a rideshare car accident, it is beneficial to pursue the lawsuit. By partnering with an experienced Covington rideshare accident lawyer, anyone can receive experienced legal support in their wrongful death case.

What to Expect in a Covington Wrongful Death Lawsuit

It is paramount to collect evidence surrounding a Covington rideshare accident that causes the death of a family member. An attorney can help a victim’s family gather and review evidence. Meanwhile, this evidence can help the victim’s family show who is responsible for their loved one’s death.

A rideshare driver is responsible for passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists. If the driver’s negligence or carelessness behind the wheel causes a fatal accident, this individual must be held accountable. As such, the driver may be forced to pay damages due to their behaviors.

The family of a wrongful death accident victim in a rideshare accident case must show that an at-fault party had a duty of care to the victim. From here, the family can seek out damages for medical bills, loss of income, or other financial problems relating to the accident. They can pursue damages for suffering and pain caused by the accident as well.

You Can File a Covington Rideshare Accident Lawsuit for Many Reasons

In addition to wrongful death, there are many reasons why people file Covington rideshare accident lawsuits. These include:

• Medical bills. An individual can face steep medical bills due to an injury that occurred in a rideshare accident.
• Lost wages. People may be forced to miss work as they receive treatment or recover from a rideshare accident injury.
• Property damage. Those who experience property damage in a rideshare accident can seek out compensation from anyone who caused it.

After a Covington rideshare accident, partner with an attorney. This allows an individual to review their legal options. The attorney can help their client weigh the pros and cons of filing a rideshare accident lawsuit.
