What to Do After a Pedestrian Crash in Newnan
The hours and days after a pedestrian collision can affect both your health and your claim. If you can, get medical care right away, follow your doctor’s instructions, and keep records of every appointment, bill, and symptom.
You should also save photos of the scene, your injuries, damaged personal items, and anything else that shows what happened. If a driver’s insurer contacts you, be careful about giving a recorded statement before you know the full extent of your injuries.
A Newnan pedestrian accident attorney can help preserve evidence before it disappears. That may include surveillance footage, vehicle data, witness statements, and police reports.
How Liability is Proven in a Pedestrian Accident Case
Most pedestrian injury claims come down to whether a driver failed to use reasonable care. Drivers may be at fault for speeding, texting, failing to yield, running a light, turning without checking a crosswalk, or backing up without looking.
We often build a claim by showing how the collision happened and how that conduct caused your injuries. Evidence may include:
- Police reports and citations.
- Witness statements and video footage.
- Scene photos and roadway markings.
- Medical records linking the crash to your injuries.
- Cell phone or vehicle data, when available.
Georgia law may still allow recovery even if the insurer says you were partly at fault. If the other side argues that you crossed outside a crosswalk or were not visible enough, we can examine whether that claim is accurate and how much it should matter.
Injuries That Often Follow These Collisions
Pedestrian accidents often cause much more than bruises or a temporary limp. You may be dealing with traumatic brain injuries, spinal damage, broken bones, internal injuries, road rash, or long-term mobility problems.
Even injuries that first seem manageable can become more serious over time. A concussion may interfere with memory and concentration, and a leg fracture may keep you from working for months.
Your claim should reflect the full effect of the crash, not just the first emergency room bill. We look at current treatment, future care, pain, missed work, and the ways the injury has changed your daily life.

Distance is no obstacle. We work with clients across the country and make sure every one of them feels taken care of, no matter how far the call travels.
What Compensation May Be Available
If someone else caused the crash, you may have the right to seek money for both financial losses and personal harm. The value of a case depends on the injury, the treatment required, the available insurance, and how the crash affects your future.
You may be able to recover compensation for:
- Emergency and ongoing medical treatment.
- Lost wages and reduced earning ability.
- Pain and suffering.
- Rehabilitation and therapy costs.
- Permanent disability or disfigurement.
In fatal pedestrian cases, surviving family members may also have a wrongful death claim. That can include losses tied to the person’s life, income, and support for the family.
How Our Newnan Pedestrian Accident Lawyers Can Help
A lawyer from our firm can handle the legal work while you focus on treatment and recovery. That includes collecting evidence, identifying insurance coverage, calculating losses, and dealing with adjusters.
Your case may involve more than one liable party. A negligent driver may be responsible, but so might an employer, a rideshare company’s insurance policy, or another party connected to the crash.
Building a Strong Claim
We look closely at where the collision happened, how traffic was moving, what the driver did, and what your medical records show. If needed, we work with outside professionals to explain speed, visibility, impact, and future care needs.
A strong claim also tells the story of how the injury affects your life. That can include missed work, daily pain, limits on activity, and the emotional impact of a sudden violent collision.
Deadlines for Filing a Claim in Newnan
Georgia law limits how long you have to file a lawsuit after a pedestrian accident. In many injury cases, the deadline is generally two years from the date of the crash, though some exceptions may apply.
Waiting too long can hurt your case even before the deadline arrives. Videos may be erased, witnesses may become harder to locate, and records may be more difficult to gather.
Talking with a lawyer for pedestrian accidents in Newnan early gives you a better chance to protect evidence and avoid preventable delays. It also helps you learn what deadlines apply to your specific facts.
