Ruby Tuesday and Slip and Fall Accidents in Georgia

The concept for Ruby Tuesday restaurants began back in 1972, and the name was inspired by the Rolling Stones song, “Ruby Tuesday.” The business has since grown to about 490 locations worldwide with its headquarters in Maryville, Tennessee.

Ruby Tuesday restaurants have been known for their salad bars and burgers since they began. They also offer American fare like steaks, ribs, pasta dishes, seafood, and chicken dishes. Patrons can also order from a full bar that includes beers, wines, and cocktails.

Besides providing delicious food and beverage options and a pleasant dining experience, Ruby Tuesday employees must keep their premises safe for customers. If employees fail to keep the location safe and someone is injured in a slip and fall accident, the restaurant may be liable for the damages. That means that if you were injured at a Ruby Tuesday in Georgia, you might be entitled to compensation.

Take Pictures at the Scene

Document the scene of the accident as well as you can. Use your phone to photograph the dangerous condition that caused your fall and the entire accident scene. This will provide context for your claim and preserve how everything looked right away.

Notify the Restaurant

Make sure the Ruby Tuesday’s manager knows that you fell and were injured. They will likely complete an accident report on what happened.

The manager might ask you questions about the accident. Be very careful to not apologize or admit any blame during this conversation. There was a reason you fell, and you don’t want something you say to be used against you later.

Get Witness Information

Unless you were dining outside of peak meal hours, chances are very good that someone else saw your accident and/or the hazardous condition that caused it. Talk to anyone who was a witness to what happened, and ask what they saw. Get their names and contact information.

Witness statements can be very important for your claim. Getting the contact information for these people can also help your lawyer when they are investigating what occurred.

Get Medical Care

Even if you feel okay after the slip and fall accident, always see a doctor to get your injuries evaluated. Many slip and fall injuries are worse than they appear at first, and waiting too long to get treatment is detrimental to your case. It’s best to see a doctor on the same day as your slip and fall accident.

Document Your Damages

Keep track of all medical bills, receipts, records, copies of reports, proof of lost wages, pictures of your injuries, and other documents that show what happened and the damages you suffered. This information will be vital to your claim.

How to Handle Partial Fault in a Slip and Fall Accident at Ruby Tuesday

Many slip and fall injury victims worry that they somehow caused their accident. If you have this same concern, we would urge you to speak with an experienced slip and fall accident lawyer before assuming anything. People don’t fall for no reason, and there’s a good chance the restaurant was liable in some way.

The above being said, there are situations where more than one party is partially at fault in an injury accident. It doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t still seek compensation.

Under Georgia Code section 51-12-33, you may still be entitled to compensation if you were less than 50% at fault for the accident. Georgia’s modified comparative negligence laws still allow an injury victim to seek damages but at a reduced rate based on their percentage of fault. If you have questions about this, contact your slip and fall accident lawyer today.
