What to Do After a Slip and Fall Accident at Bonefish Grill

It’s important to begin compiling evidence for your case against Bonefish Grill as soon as possible after your accident. Here are some ways you can protect your legal rights and start building a case.

Get Medical Treatment

If you have serious injuries, don’t delay getting any emergency medical treatment you need. Otherwise, make sure you see a doctor as soon as possible after leaving the restaurant.

Seeing a doctor right away is good for your case because it:

• Creates a record of your injuries right after the accident
• Shows the insurance company your injuries are serious (and if you wait too long to seek treatment, they might try to use it against you)
• Gives you an idea of how much medical treatment you’ll need for your injuries

Tell the Restaurant

Don’t leave the scene before telling the restaurant about your accident. Ask an employee to take you to a manager, and make sure they understand that you fell and were injured in Bonefish Grill.

Be careful what you say here. Do not apologize or admit any blame in the accident. Also, don’t sign anything or make any major decisions at this stage until after you’ve spoken to a lawyer.

Take Pictures

After you fall, use your phone to take pictures of:

• The entire slip and fall accident scene
• Your injuries
• The hazardous or dangerous condition that caused your accident

Pictures can say a lot. Even if the accident scene is completely cleaned up or changed soon after your accident, your pictures will preserve how it looked right after you fell.

Save Evidence of Damages

Keep track of all medical bills, evidence of lost wages, and other costs from your accident. If you need help obtaining some of this information, your slip and fall accident lawyer can assist you.

Reach Out to a Slip and Fall Lawyer

It’s best to call an experienced lawyer on the same day as (or at least within 48 hours of) your accident. They can evaluate the details of your accident and determine your legal options. Even if you just schedule a consultation, this will give you an idea of what to do next.

Common Injuries at Restaurants Like Bonefish Grill

Many slip and fall accidents are not life-threatening, but some can be incredibly serious. It all depends on factors like what caused your fall, how dangerous the hazard was, your age and health at the time of the accident, and more. Children and elderly adults may suffer more severe injuries even if the fall was seemingly minor.

Some of the most common slip and fall injuries that can happen at Bonefish Grill include:

• Neck, back, or spine injuries
• Broken bones, such as broken wrists, hands, arms, ankles, toes, or legs
• Knee or hip injuries
• Brain injuries
• Cuts, bruises, and scrapes
• Joint or muscle injuries

No matter what type of injury you suffer, filing a slip and fall case against the restaurant is rarely easy or straightforward. If you file a personal injury claim, you’ll have to deal with Bonefish Grill’s insurance company—and insurance companies don’t like to pay much on injury claims. The insurer might try to deny your claim, say you caused your injuries, or doubt how serious your damages are.

Having a slip and fall lawyer on your side from the beginning helps level the playing field. An experienced attorney will know how to handle the insurance company, present solid evidence, and negotiate for a fair settlement. If you do end up needing to sue, your lawyer will help you through each step of that process, too.
