Georgia KFC Slip and Fall Accident Lawyer

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is a popular fast-food restaurant chain that serves fried chicken to more than 12 million people every day. KFC must ensure that its restaurants are safe for each of these customers, from the parking lot to the interior dining area, counters and restrooms.

If KFC and its employees are negligent, spills may not be cleaned up promptly or necessary repairs may go uncorrected. If negligence happens you may become a victim of a slip and fall accident in one of KFC’s 156 Georgia locations. Slip and fall hazards that may happen at KFC include:

• Food or drink on the floor – tile or linoleum floors that become slippery from spilled food like fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, soda, or condiments.
• Wet floors – a leaky roof or plumbing problems can cause puddles on the floor, or the floors may be wet after mopping. Employees should cordon off these areas or place warning signs on them so you can make sure to avoid them.
• Cracked or uneven pavement – over time, parking lots or sidewalks outside the restaurant can develop cracks. If these areas go uncorrected, they can create tripping hazards.

If you are injured from a slip and fall accident due to hazardous conditions at KFC, you could be eligible for compensation. More About KFC

KFC started with Harland Sanders and his secret fried chicken recipe, which he perfected in 1940. First selling exclusively in his roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, Sanders began franchising in 1952. The restaurants offered dine-in or carryout, utilizing cardboard buckets to package the meals.

Sanders sold KFC in the 1970s, and the company is currently owned by Yum! Brands. There are 23,000 KFC restaurants now in operation around the world.

Actions to Take After You Slip and Fall

A KFC slip and fall accident can leave you with relatively minor injuries or injuries that are more severe. A traumatic brain injury or bone fractures can occur when you land on the hard tile floors or service counter.

After falling, examine your injuries and decide whether they are severe enough to warrant emergency medical attention. If so, call 911 or go immediately to a hospital for treatment. Your health and safety should be your number one priority.

If your injuries are manageable and you can remain on the scene, the following actions will help if you decide to file a claim for compensation:

• Look for hazards that may have caused you to fall. Immediately take pictures before the scene can be altered or hazards can be removed. Include the surrounding areas to document the lack of safety signs or warnings.
• Gather information from bystanders who saw your fall, including names and phone numbers. You or your attorney may wish to contact these witnesses in the future, especially if they can corroborate your recollection of events.
• If you notice security cameras that may have documented your fall, ask for copies of the video footage.
• File an official incident report with the KFC store manager. In your statement, steer clear of taking the blame for your fall, for example, by saying you should have been more careful.
• If you are asked to sign any paperwork, consult with a slip and fall attorney first so he or she can review the documents.

The Georgia Code § 9-3-33 allows exactly two years from the date of your fall for you to file a personal injury claim. This two-year statute of limitations is a strict deadline that must be met for a court to award you financial compensation for your injuries.
