Quick Facts About Jiffy Lube in Georgia
Jiffy Lube is a chain of automotive service shops best known for its oil change services. Jiffy Lube also provides tire rotations, transmission services, brake services, and more. The company was founded in 1971 in Utah with headquarters in Houston, Texas.
There are now around 2,000 Jiffy Lube locations throughout the United States, including Georgia cities like Warner Robins, Macon, Dublin, Milledgeville, Conyers, and Stockbridge.
If you visit a Jiffy Lube, you should not have to worry about your personal safety. Property owners and occupiers in Georgia have a duty to maintain safe premises for those who come onto their property (Georgia Code § 51-3-1). This includes Jiffy Lube and its management and employees. If their negligence has led to your injuries, you have a right to pursue compensation for your damages.
What You Need to Support Your Case Against Jiffy Lube
When you contact a slip and fall lawyer about your Jiffy Lube slip and fall accident, they will begin gathering evidence from the accident. Although you are the injury victim, the burden is still on you to prove what happened and demonstrate your damages.
The more evidence you can gather for your case, the better. Your lawyer will help you compile documentation and vital information like:
- Medical bills from the treatment of your slip and fall injuries
- Medical records, including doctor notes and treatment recommendations
- Receipts from prescription medications
- Proof of lost wages and days you’ve had to miss work because of the accident
- Any reports of the accident
- Pictures from the accident scene
- Surveillance footage from the store
- Statements from people who witnessed your slip and fall accident
Thankfully, you can gather some of this information on the same day as your accident. If you are well enough to take pictures of the place where you fell and the hazard that caused your fall, that can be very helpful in showing what happened.
It’s also a good idea to speak with anyone in the Pep Boys shop who witnessed your accident. Ask what they saw and get their names and contact information so your lawyer can reach out and get supporting statements soon.
This evidence will need to show that the store was negligent, their negligence caused your slip and fall accident, and that you wouldn’t have fallen and suffered your damages if the store had been more careful. This is very difficult to do alone, which is why we urge you to speak with an experienced slip and fall lawyer as soon as you can.
Damages You Can Recover from a Slip and Fall Accident at Jiffy Lube in Georgia
If Jiffy Lube was negligent in your accident, they are legally responsible for the damages you face from the accident. Damages can look a little different in each case, but most accident victims experience the following losses.
Medical Expenses
Medical costs make up the largest part of a slip and fall case. Even injuries that seem minor at first can become serious quickly. This is why we always advise slip and fall victims to see a doctor immediately after leaving the scene of the accident.
Medical costs you’ll likely face include doctor bills, hospital stays, prescription medications, future treatment costs, and other long-term treatment like physical therapy or rehabilitation. You will want to keep track of all bills, receipts, and notes showing your medical expenses from the accident.
Getting medical attention right away does several things for your case, including:
- Creates a record of treatment for your slip and fall injuries
- Give you an idea of what your future treatment costs will be
- Shows the insurance company that your injuries are serious (since you are getting treatment right after the accident)
- Protects your physical health and your legal rights
If you wait too long to get medical treatment, the insurance company may use it as a reason to say you weren’t hurt as badly as you’re claiming. So, don’t wait to get your injuries checked out.
Lost Wages
If you were working before the slip and fall accident, you’ll likely have to miss work because of the accident. You can include these lost wages in your claim.
If your injuries impact your ability to work at the same capacity as before, you may also be able to claim lost earning capacity from Jiffy Lube’s insurance company.
Pain and Suffering
Slip and fall injuries can impact your entire life. They can lead to fear, embarrassment disfigurement, and other mental anguish. These are non-economic damages that you may be able to include in your claim.
Pain and suffering damages are difficult to prove, so you’ll definitely want help from a slip and fall lawyer if you have a lot of emotional damages. They can work to calculate how much these damages are worth.
Wrongful Death
Sometimes, slip and fall accidents can lead to death, especially if the victim was older or already in poor health. If someone dies from a slip and fall accident, certain family members can file a claim on their behalf for damages like medical costs, funeral costs, and pain and suffering.
