When to File a Rideshare Accident Lawsuit

There is a two-year statute of limitations for filing a personal injury lawsuit in Georgia. This means you have two years from the date of your rideshare accident to sue anyone responsible for the incident. If you wait more than two years, you are ineligible to receive financial damages from any at-fault parties.

Hiring a College Park Atlanta personal injury lawyer is paramount. This attorney can review your accident and learn about your personal injury. They can then help you file your legal claim.

A rideshare accident attorney in College Park offers legal support for the duration of your litigation. You can ask your attorney questions at any time. Plus, your attorney will do their part to help you secure the maximum compensation amount.

How Rideshare Accident Lawsuits Are Resolved

It can take many months or years to resolve a rideshare accident lawsuit. Once you file your lawsuit, your attorney will try to negotiate on your behalf. Your lawyer will work with the at-fault party’s attorney in the hopes of reaching a settlement before your case goes to court.

Your rideshare accident attorney will keep you up to date regarding any settlement talks. If you receive a settlement offer, your lawyer will review it with you. At this point, you can decline or accept the proposal.

If you and the at-fault party cannot resolve your lawsuit, your case will go before the court. In this instance, you will present evidence and provide evidence to support your claim. The judge or jury will make a decision, and you may be awarded financial compensation.

Expect the Number of Rideshare Accidents to Increase

The global ridesharing market was valued at approximately $73.5 billion in 2020. It is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 16.7% from 2021 to 2023. By 2030, the market could be worth approximately $344.4 billion.

In a recent safety report, researchers estimated that approximately 3.1 million Uber trips take place in a given year. If demand for Uber and other ridesharing services increases, the risk of rideshare accidents rises. Meanwhile, there may be more risk than ever before of rideshare accidents that endanger pedestrians and motorists.

Common Causes of Rideshare Accidents in Georgia

There are many reasons why rideshare accidents happen. These include:

• Speeding. In one analysis of over 1 million ridesharing trips, researchers found that drivers speed about 30% of the time.
• Poor driving conditions. Drivers can face heavy traffic, uneven terrain, inclement weather, and other hazards that make it tough to travel safely.
• Lack of experience. There are minimal requirements to drive for a ridesharing company, and an inexperienced driver can put themselves and others at risk.
• Driving while drowsy. A fatigued driver may be slow to respond, which increases the risk of an accident.
• Distracted driving. A driver may frequently check their phone for their next fare, which can ultimately result in an accident.

If you are the victim of a rideshare accident in College Park, you need to respond accordingly. In this instance, you should seek out medical help and capture evidence at the accident scene. In addition, you should reach out to a College Park rideshare lawyer.
