What Benefits does Hiring a Garbage Truck Accident Lawyer Bring?
You can reap many benefits from hiring a garbage truck accident attorney. Many of which are instrumental in getting the maximum amount of compensation available for your claim.
Consulting with Accident Reconstruction Experts
Not every garbage truck accident is straightforward. The very nature of most traffic accidents is chaotic, and often it can be hard to discern whether or not your accident was solely the fault of another party. The Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OCGA) §51-12-33 states that comparative fault gets used to decide whether or not you can file a claim.
You have to be less than 50% responsible for your accident to recover financial compensation for your damages. Our lawyers can consult with accident reconstruction experts who use forensic science to accurately describe how your garbage truck accident occurred. This testimony can be crucial in establishing negligence and your innocence.
Accurately Calculating All of Your Damages
Your damages vary from economic to non-economic. Economic damages have a fixed monetary value while non-economic damages don’t. Both require different calculation methods to figure out just how much you can get compensated for in your settlement.
Our garbage truck accident attorneys will evaluate all aspects of your case to calculate the correct amount of compensation you deserve. We will always ensure that everything gets accounted for and not a single penny gets left out of your settlement during negotiations.
Ensuring You Adhere to All Deadlines
You can’t file a claim for your garbage truck accident several years down the line. The state of Georgia only gives you two years to file your claim, or else it expires. Once you pass the expiration date, you won’t be able to win a settlement any longer.
We can help you file your claim at the right time after you’ve built a strong case to back you up. Our legal team will help you prepare your claim quickly, so you don’t have to rush at the last minute to fight for your settlement.
What Damages Can I Get Compensated?
You can compensate for many types of damages:
- Loss of consortium
- Loss of enjoyment of life
- Disability and disfigurement
- Medical expenses
- Vehicle repairs and property damages
- Substitute and assisted living services
- Pain and suffering
- Mental anguish and emotional trauma
- Wrongful death
So long as your damages resulted directly from your garbage truck accident, you can receive compensation for them. When you file a claim against a negligent driver, company, or government entity, you will often have to deal with an insurance company before getting your settlement.
What If an Insurance Adjuster Says I don’t Need a Lawyer?
Insurance adjusters like to claim that most lawyers are only out to make money from you and steal your settlement. They often warn about how law firms prey on truck accident victims just so they can receive a quick paycheck at their expense. Even though it’s true that some law firms do engage in these shady and immoral practices, the attorneys at John Foy & Associates do not.
We know what qualities make a good truck accident lawyer, and ours embody them every day. With us, our priorities are to help you get the most out of your settlement. Our team will never accept any payment upfront and will never charge you any hidden fees. If we can’t win a settlement on your behalf, you don’t have to pay us for anything.
For more than two decades, we have been helping people fight back against insurance companies. They don’t want you to hire a lawyer because they know that once you do, you’re more than likely going to get the settlement that truly represents all of the damages you’ve sustained.
