What to Do After a Slip and Fall Accident at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse

After slipping and falling at a Rush’s Chris Steak House location, it’s important to legally protect yourself as much as you can. The restaurant and their insurance company may spring into action quickly, working to reduce their liability in what occurred.

Insurance companies are skilled at looking for ways to pay an accident victim less than they deserve, so you’ll want to gather as much evidence as you can and contact a slip and fall lawyer as soon as possible.

Here are some of the most vital actions to take after falling at a steakhouse.

Document the Scene

If you can, use your phone or a camera to take pictures at the scene right after you fell. Don’t be afraid to take too many pictures. Get shots of:

• The hazard or dangerous condition that caused your fall
• Your injuries
• And the entire accident scene from different angles

If you’ve already left the scene but it’s not too late, return and try to document as much evidence as you can. Slip and fall scenes can be cleaned up or changed quickly, and the restaurant will likely want to remove as much evidence of the accident as possible. The better you can document things how they were when you fell, the better it can be for your case.

Also, look around and note if there were any security cameras that might have captured your fall. Photograph those cameras so there is evidence that they were there. Your lawyer can help you request the surveillance footage from that day to support your claim.

Report the Slip and Fall Accident

Before you leave the restaurant, be sure to tell the owner or manager that you fell and were injured. Avoid discussing any specifics or answering any invasive questions about the accident at this time. That will be something to sort out with your lawyer later.

You might get the manager or owner to put your report on the accident in writing so you can receive a copy of it. This can act as important evidence that the restaurant was aware of the accident in case they try to deny it later.

Speak with Any Witnesses

Busy and popular restaurants like many Ruth’s Chris Steak Houses will have several people around. Chances are good that someone else saw you fall. Talk to any potential eyewitnesses and ask for their names, phone numbers, and email addresses.

Tell any witnesses that you really appreciate their help and that your attorney will likely reach out with them for statements soon.

Get Medical Attention

It’s crucial that you see a doctor as soon as possible after leaving the slip and fall accident scene. If your injuries are serious, don’t wait—call for emergency medical attention. Otherwise, go to the doctor very soon to get checked out and treated.

Sometimes, it takes slip and fall accident injuries days to fully manifest, but don’t wait for symptoms to appear. See a doctor even if you feel okay. This will support your claim and prevent things from getting worse.

Talk to a Slip and Fall Lawyer in Georgia

Besides getting medical attention, the most important thing you can do after a slip and fall accident to contact an experienced attorney. Make sure you speak with someone who focuses on slip and fall cases and has experience with cases involving restaurants like Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

Your slip and fall lawyer will help your case in countless ways, including helping you build the strongest case possible and protecting you from any tactics the insurance company may try to use against you. The sooner you can contact a lawyer, the sooner you can find the best one for you and your case.

Also, don’t wait to start working on your case. In the state of Georgia, you typically have two years from the date of an injury to file a slip and fall claim (Georgia Code section 9-3-33). You will need plenty of time before that to investigate, build your claim, and negotiate with the insurance company for the settlement you deserve.
