An Overview of Radisson Hotels in Georgia
Radisson Hotels is a hotel chain that operates brands like Park Inn by Radisson, Country Inn & Suites, and Raddison Blu and Red. The first Radisson was built in Minneapolis, Minnesota, back in 1909. The name comes from Pierre-Esprit Radisson, a French explorer, furrier, and ranger from the 17th century.
Since its first opening, Radisson has expanded to become one of the top hotel companies. While most hotels that operate under just the Radisson name are located in the United States, other brands operated by the company can be found internationally, as well.
There are Radisson Hotel locations more than 30 cities in Georgia, including in Alpharetta, Atlanta, Columbus, Fairburn, McDonough, Valdosta, and Warner Robins. If you were injured at any Radisson location, you should discuss your legal rights with an experienced attorney. You may be entitled to compensation for your damages.
Types of Injuries that Can Happen at Hotels in Georgia
There are many places on a hotel’s property where slip and fall injuries can take place. Here are some of the most common locations and ways that slip and fall accidents may happen in those locations.
Parking Lot Injuries
Before a guest even enters (or re-enters) the hotel, they may be at risk of slipping and falling in the parking lot. Accidents can happen if there are potholes, uneven pavement, or other issues with the places where guests walk that the business has not been careful to fix or clean up.
Walkways and Landscaping
Hotels often put a lot of effort and money into the walkways leading up to their entrances. Landscaping is also typically well-maintained to show guests that the hotel is clean, efficient, and welcoming. However, if hotel staff or those who maintain the walkways are not diligent, hazards can be present.
Someone can slip or fall due to:
- Holes in the grass or walkways
- Rocks that have protruded into the walkway
- Landscape edging that is sticking on into the walkway
- Uneven or slippery flooring on the walkway
The Hotel’s Interior
Once inside the hotel, a guest may slip and fall at any time because of:
- Electrical cords on the floor
- Wet or slippery floors
- Unmarked steps up or down
- Stairs without railings
- Curled up or torn carpeting or rugs
- Weights or other equipment left out in the gym area
- Slippery surfaces in the pool area
- And more
All hotels in Georgia, including Radisson, have a legal duty to maintain safe premises for guests who come onto their premises. That means owners, managers, and employees alike must be careful to:
- Regularly check for potential slip and fall hazards
- Recognize hazards and fix or remove them and
- Avoid creating slip and fall hazards during the course of their work
These points all fall under the concept of premises liability in Georgia. An owner or occupier of a property is responsible for keeping the premises safe. If they are not careful and someone is hurt as a result, the business will likely be liable.
How You Can File a Slip and Fall Claim Against Radisson Hotels in Georgia
To seek compensation for your injuries, you will need to file a personal injury claim with the hotel’s insurance company. In an insurance claim, the insurance company is ultimately responsible for covering your damages. However, the insurance company might make it difficult for you to get the full recovery you deserve.
The insurer will look for ways to reduce the value of your claim so they can pay you less. So, it’s important that you gather as much evidence of the accident, the hotel’s negligence, and your damages as you can. You’ll also want to seek the help of a slip and fall lawyer who has experience with these types of claims.
Negotiating Your Claim
After you file your claim with the insurance company, they will likely respond with a counteroffer. This settlement offer is usually way less than your damages are worth. Never take the first offer, as accepting it will close your case and you won’t be able to pursue a higher recovery.
Your slip and fall lawyer will work to negotiate with the insurance company. The goal is to get you the fullest compensation possible. If your lawyer is successful in this, you will get paid. However, there are some situations where you might need to file a lawsuit to seek the damages you deserve.
No matter what happens, a good lawyer will be there for you every step of the way and advise you on the best courses of action for your case.
