Columbus Postmates Accident Lawyer

Have you been involved in an accident with a Postmates driver in Columbus, Georgia? The surge in food delivery services has brought convenience to our doorsteps, but it has also introduced new risks on our roads.

Postmates is a part of Uber, but Uber’s insurance coverage only applies to rideshare, not to food delivery services. This creates complications for compensation after a Postmates accident, but our Columbus Postmates accident lawyers can help you.

Contact the Strong Arm today to speak with our Columbus food delivery car accident lawyers to discuss your situation and how we can help you get justice when a food delivery driver puts their profits ahead of safety.

About Postmates

Postmates, now operating under the UberEats umbrella, is a company that provides food, alcohol, and grocery delivery services throughout Columbus through gig workers. While this service offers convenience, it also raises the risk of accidents involving:

• Distracted drivers checking their apps

• Rushed deliveries leading to reckless driving

• Fatigued drivers working long hours

• Inexperienced drivers unfamiliar with local roads

Whether you’re a pedestrian, a fellow driver, or a Postmates courier yourself, an accident can have far-reaching consequences on your life. Worse, unlike with Uber’s rideshare service, no law requires Uber to give you coverage if you get into an accident for food delivery in Georgia.

You may need a Columbus car accident lawyer to help with your claim. If the insurers say that their policyholder violated their policy by doing food delivery, they may try to deny you coverage.

The Insurance Dilemma: Coverage Gaps and Postmates Accidents

Many Columbus residents are unaware that Uber’s insurance coverage does not extend to food delivery drivers, including those working for Postmates. This leaves a significant gap in protection for both drivers and accident victims.

If you’re involved in an accident with a Postmates driver, you might face several challenges:

• Limited Personal Coverage: The driver’s auto insurance may not cover accidents during commercial activities like food delivery.

• No Corporate Backing: Unlike rideshare services, Postmates drivers lack corporate insurance coverage that could provide additional protection.

• Potential for Uninsured Accidents: You might find yourself in a situation where neither the driver’s insurance nor any company policy covers the accident.

• Complex Claims Process: Due to these insurance gaps, determining liability and pursuing compensation requires legal help.

This insurance dilemma underscores the importance of having a knowledgeable Columbus personal injury lawyer on your side.

Compensation Our Postmates Accident Lawyers in Columbus, GA, Could Help You Win

The primary categories are economic damages, non-economic damages, and, in some cases, punitive damages. Economic damages are designed to reimburse you for quantifiable financial losses. These typically include medical expenses (both current and future), lost wages, loss of earning capacity, and property damage.

Non-economic damages compensate you for the pain and suffering, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, and other intangible impacts of the accident. Calculating non-economic damages can be complex, as they don’t have a straightforward dollar value.

Punitive damages may be available in rare cases involving extreme negligence or intentional misconduct. Unlike economic and non-economic damages, which are meant to compensate the victim, punitive damages are designed to punish the wrongdoer and deter similar behavior in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions About Postmates Accidents in Columbus

Can I sue Postmates directly?

While Postmates classifies drivers as independent contractors, there may be situations where the company bears some responsibility. We’ll assess your case and advise on the most appropriate legal strategy.

What if the Postmates driver’s insurance denies my claim?

This is a common issue due to the insurance gap we discussed. Our team will explore all potential avenues for compensation, including the driver’s personal assets or other liable parties.

How long do I have to file a claim?

In Georgia, the statute of limitations for personal injury claims is generally two years from the date of the accident. However, starting the process as soon as possible is best to preserve evidence before it disappears.
