Georgia Laws That Make Workers’ Comp Benefits Available to Flight Attendants

Georgia law requires all airlines that employ three or more workers to provide workers’ compensation insurance to injured employees. The law also requires coverage to go into effect as soon as an employee starts working for a company. Therefore, you have the right to file a claim if you’ve been injured while working as a flight attendant.

As long as your accident occurred while you were clocked in, you’ll be eligible to pursue benefits for the injuries and losses you’ve suffered. That said, filing a successful claim can be difficult without a skilled legal representative by your side. A knowledgeable attorney can ensure your claim is filed correctly and in compliance with state law.

Workers’ Compensation Benefits for Flight Attendants in Georgia

Injured flight attendants in Georgia can take advantage of several different workers’ compensation benefits. An attorney can meet with you to discuss your unique situation and determine which of the following forms of compensation you’re eligible to receive:

Medical Benefits

After sustaining an injury at work, you could be struggling to cover medical expenses. Fortunately, the money you could receive from a workers’ comp claim can pay for a number of different medical treatments and services. A winning claim can give you the money you need to afford any of the following forms of care:

• Doctor’s visits
• Hospital treatment
• Ambulance services
• Transportation to medical appointments
• Physical therapy
• Medications
• And more

These damages can offer life-changing support after a work accident. No matter how severe your injury is, these benefits can provide the financial support you need to address your condition and recover as much as possible properly.

Weekly Payments

In addition to medical benefits, workers’ comp can also provide weekly payments equal to two-thirds of your normal wage. While these payments are capped at $800 a week, they are tax-exempt. An attorney can use your previous paychecks to determine how much you should receive in weekly payments.

Disability

Sometimes, workplace injuries can leave you with long-term physical limitations and disabilities. If that’s the case for you, you’ll be able to apply for workers’ comp disability benefits. If successful, you could receive compensation to help you manage your lasting injury and support yourself while you’re unable to work.

Death Benefits

If your spouse, parent, or step-parent has passed away in an accident that occurred while they were working as a flight attendant, you could be dealing with a great deal of emotional distress and financial pressure.

While pursuing workers’ comp benefits won’t replace the tragic loss you’ve suffered, a settlement can help you cover funeral expenses and income-related losses you’ve incurred due to the decedent’s passing.

Statute of Limitations for Georgia Flight Attendant Workers’ Comp Claims

If you are pursuing compensation for a work accident, it’s important to familiarize yourself with Georgia’s statute of limitations for workers’ compensation claims. According to the statute, you have one year from the day that your accident occurred to file a claim for benefits.

If your claim isn’t filed in time, you won’t receive the money you need to cover your medical expenses, replace lost wages, and deal with other challenges. A committed flight attendant workers’ compensation lawyer from Georgia can take swift action on your behalf. As long as you reach out to a lawyer soon, they’ll be able to get your claim filed before it’s too late.
