Holding the Correct At-Fault Party Liable for Your Lyft Accident
Lyft accidents can have various at-fault parties involved. You could have to file a claim against multiple parties. Figuring out who exactly was responsible for your accident can be challenging, but our lawyers break it down. There are three main parties that are typically responsible for Lyft accidents:
- The driver of the Lyft
- Lyft itself
- Another driver on the road
In order to figure out which one caused your accident, our lawyers will look at the entirety of your accident and how it happened. We can even consult with accident reconstruction experts to help us determine exactly who was at fault and how.
Whether you file a claim against Lyft, their driver, or another driver on the road, know that you still fall under the comparative fault laws as stated in the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OCGA) § 51-12-33. This means that, even if you weren’t the one driving, you still have to show that you were less than 50% responsible to file a claim.
What Our Lyft Accident Lawyers Can Do to Help You With Your Claim
To help prove negligence and ensure that the at-fault party doesn’t shift the blame on you, our lawyers will help you in several ways. We do much more than just file paperwork and make a few phone calls.
Gather Evidence
Our Lyft accident lawyers in Union City can gather evidence and organize it on your behalf while you rest and recover from your injuries. We will conduct witness interviews, obtain surveillance or CCTV footage, and obtain critical documents that all prove the damages you suffered. We will ensure that you have a strong case built for your claim.
Fight Against the Insurance Company
Insurance companies that represent Lyft often have a lot of financial and legal resources at their disposal to challenge the claim you make against them. If you don’t have any strong legal experience or knowledge of personal injury law, the insurance company will use that against you.
You don’t have to become an expert on legal affairs overnight. Our lawyers will handle the insurance company on your behalf and ensure that your demands get heard. We won’t let them pressure you into giving up on your claim.
Calculate Your Damages Accurately
Our lawyers will calculate all the damages you suffered in your Lyft accident accurately. In addition to our holistic assessment of your Lyft accident case, we also use various formulas to ensure that no damage gets left out of your final settlement total. If your case qualifies, we will also help you receive a reward for punitive damages.
Types of Damages You Can Recover for a Lyft Accident
You can receive compensation for virtually all the damages you sustained, so long as you can directly relate them to your Lyft accident. These are a few of the most common damages our Union City Lyft accident lawyers see:
- Lost wages and reduced earning capablity
- Loss of consortium or enjoyment of life
- Pain and suffering
- Mental anguish and emotional trauma
- Wrongful death
- Medical expenses
- Disability and disfigurement
- Property damages
Even if you already paid for some of these damages out of pocket, don’t worry. You can still receive compensation that reimburses whatever you already paid off.

How Much the Average Lyft Accident Settlement Is Worth in Union City
The average Lyft accident settlement in Union City typically settles for several thousand dollars. However, please note that this is only a very broad estimation. Your Lyft accident claim could settle for more or less depending on several factors surrounding your accident such as:
- How severe your damages are
- How much your damages have impacted your life
- How negligent the at-fault party was in causing your accident and the extent of your injuries as a result
Since there are so many working parts to a Lyft accident case, the only way to know for sure how much your settlement will be worth is by getting help from one of our lawyers. We will review your case and inform you of how much your settlement may be worth.
Don’t Settle for Less from the Insurance Company
Regardless of how much your settlement is, never settle for anything less than the full amount. Insurance companies are notorious for trying to get Lyft accident victims to accept a lowball settlement offer. Before you accept any sort of settlement, always get legal representation first from a Union City Lyft accident attorney to ensure that you won’t get ripped off.
Statute of Limitations for Lyft Accidents in Union City
Under OCGA § 9-3-33, Lyft accidents in Union City have a two-year statute of limitation. This means that you have just two years to file your claim. If you pass this deadline, you forfeit your right to compensation and there’s little you can do about it. This is why it’s best to get started as soon as possible and talk to a lawyer today.
