We Can Handle the Insurance Companies for You
If an accident happens with a cargo truck, the costs can be enormous. Trucking companies typically have extensive insurance policies in case of an accident. However, that doesn’t mean the insurance company will compensate you.
Insurance companies will do whatever they can to reduce their costs. They can use tactics like:
- Downplaying your accident injuries
- Questioning your medical bills or other damages
- Trying to blame you for the accident
- Using something you’ve said against you
- Asking you for a recorded statement
Don’t Settle for Less than You Deserve
The insurer might also offer you a lump sum of money soon after the accident. Although fast cash may be tempting, don’t accept anything without talking to a lawyer. If you take a settlement, it will prevent you from fighting for anything else.
Insurance companies know what they’re doing. They understand that most accident victims have never had to deal with an accident claim before. Sadly, many victims end up accepting too little without knowing any better.
At John Foy & Associates, we’ll handle the insurance companies for you. With our team, you get the power of the “Strong Arm” against the insurers. We’ll communicate and negotiate with the insurance adjusters on your behalf.

Compensation You Can Pursue from the Accident
If someone else was at fault for your accident, you have a right to seek compensation. Before you can pursue recovery, you’ll need to know your damages. According to the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OCGA) §51-12-2, the two main types of damages are:
- Special damages that you must prove to recover
- General damages that do not require proof of any amount
A cargo truck accident often involves many damages. It’s best to understand the different types and how they result from your crash.
Special Damages
Special damages are those with a set dollar amount. You will need to prove the costs of damages like:
- Doctor bills
- Emergency room bills
- Lost wages
- Loss of earning capacity
- Property damage costs
- Future medical bills
These damages are relatively easy to prove if you have documentation. Our lawyers can help gather the proper records to support your claim.
General Damages
Compared to special damages, general damages are harder to prove. Thankfully, you don’t have to provide proof of a specific dollar amount like with financial losses. But you will still need to assign a dollar amount to your general damages.
Examples of general damages can include:
- Physical pain and suffering
- Mental pain and suffering
- Mental anguish
- Loss of enjoyment of life
- Loss of companionship
These losses are about how the accident has impacted your life. Our lawyers will use a formula to determine the value of your non-economic damages.
After the accident, we’ll thoroughly investigate what happened. We’ll gather evidence and work with any experts necessary to build your case. Our goal is to seek the fullest compensation possible for what you’ve suffered.
Wrongful Death Damages
Tragically, many truck accidents have deadly endings. Victims often lose their lives in crashes involving cargo trucks. If a family member was killed in a truck accident, you have options.
Certain family members can bring a wrongful death claim after a deadly accident. Wrongful death claims happen on behalf of the deceased loved one. These claims can often help surviving families recover costs and begin to heal.
Wrongful death claims can seek compensation for:
- Medical bills from the loved one’s last treatment
- Lost wages the loved one would have earned if they hadn’t died
- Pain and suffering the loved one experienced before they died
- Funeral and burial costs
- Loss of companionship or consortium
Contact us today to learn your wrongful death claim options. We’ll approach your case with compassion and respect. We are here for survivors trying to handle the aftermath of an accident.
