Slip-and-fall accidents are serious accidents that can leave you with devastating injuries. Don’t think that you didn’t just fall for no apparent reason. You had a slip-and-fall accident, not because you are clumsy or oblivious to your surroundings, but rather because of a negligent property owner.
This property owner did not tend to a problem they knew about, which puts you at risk of severe injuries. A Rome personal injury lawyer can help you recover compensation for your injuries.
Common Causes of Slip and Fall Accidents
Whether or not it is a spill on the floor or a faulty railing or step, if a property owner knows about the issue and does not address them, you can file a slip-and-fall lawsuit against the property owner. The driving factor behind this correlates to their negligence, which can negatively impact you and your life. This doesn’t seem right. Let a Rome slip-and-fall lawyer help you secure compensation today.
These types of cases are, just like so many others, extremely complex. They require the expertise of a slip-and-fall lawyer who knows what questions to ask and, more specifically, what to look for in a case. Our attorneys at John Foy & Associates know what evidence to gather.

When Should You Hire a Slip and Fall Accident Lawyer in Rome?
Accidents happen by nature, to no surprise. Although, injuries from a slip-and-fall accident can be disorienting, shocking, and painful. In the minutes that follow a slip-and-fall accident, confusion sets in for the victim, and they tend to trick themselves into thinking they don’t need an attorney or medical attention.
That is not always true. If you suffer injuries from a slip-and-fall accident, you should consult with a Rome slip-and-fall lawyer. To receive adequate compensation for injuries, victims need to prove liability and proof of damages to reach a fair settlement. Keep in mind that time is of the essence to contact our attorneys at John Foy & Associates.
What a Slip and Fall Attorney in Rome Can Do for You
In contrast to car accidents, there are typically at the very minimum two parties; a slip-and-fall accident includes just one party. Due to this reason, it is tough to determine who is at fault. Think of it this way, if one vehicle rear-ends the vehicle ahead of them, there is a clear picture of who is at fault. When an individual falls down the stairs or slips, the key to finding out who is at fault lies in the surrounding circumstances.
To prove that a company is responsible for the accident is a significant undertaking, especially to do it alone. There is not a second party that is pushing the individual to fall. Instead, it is the circumstances of the scene and dangerous conditions that play a role in the fall. Then, depending on where the victim falls, it is the responsibility of the business or property owner to keep the area safe.
Rome slip-and-fall attorneys can open a proper communication channel with the insurance company and can also use their expertise to help prove liability and damages.

Common Slip and Fall Cases We Handle
At John Foy & Associates, the most common slip-and-fall cases we handle vary. We represent clients who have suffered injuries on uneven walking surfaces, weather-related injuries, poor training, and hazards on the floor.
Wet and Uneven Surfaces
The first claim we see is usually wet and uneven walking surfaces. Wet and uneven surfaces cause more than half of all slip-and-fall cases. Uneven and damp sidewalks can be due to any of the following:
- Loose or missing floorboards
- Worn or loose carpeting
- Loose mats
- Just moped or waxes floors
- Potholes in parking lots
- Defective sidewalks
- Buildup of moisture
- Poorly built staircases
Weather-Related Incidents
Weather is the next area we will focus on since we often see it. Since the weather is a natural occurrence and impossible to control, that is the reason behind it being one of the leading causes of slip-and-fall accidents. Buildings have a legal duty to shovel sidewalks, plow the streets, and salt walkways during the winter season. Failure to do so will result in the facility being responsible for weather-caused negligence.
Poor Training
We also see poor training as a primary reason for slip-and-fall accidents. We mean that employers and employees must undergo proper training to avoid slips and falls while on duty. Without appropriate training, the employer will be liable for all damages the victim sustains.
Floor Hazards
Another cause of slips and falls is stray cords and electrical wires. Cables and wires can potentially hook on shoes or legs, which causes the individual to fall over.
With our attorneys, you don’t have to worry about compensation; let us do the legwork. If you experience a slip-and-fall due to any one of these reasons or not, Rome slip-and-fall attorneys will have your back.
