When a person has experienced a catastrophic injury, they will most likely be permanently disabled for the rest of their life. Permanent disabilities usually cause people to be unable to work, care for themselves, and carry out their day-to-day activities. These types of accidents are usually unforeseen by the victim, but they are almost always preventable.
A catastrophic injury victim will never return to how their life was before the accident. Still, a Milledgeville catastrophic injury lawyer from John Foy & Associates will ensure that the responsible parties are held accountable and that the victim’s life going forward becomes easier with compensation to cover their losses.
When to Hire a Catastrophic Injury Attorney
You may not know what direction to go after you have been involved in a catastrophic injury accident. Our attorneys at John Foy & Associates will meet with you to determine if you have a catastrophic injury case. We are savvy regarding the laws and regulations around these types of accidents and will ensure you are kept up to date on what is happening with your claim. Remember to ensure the parties are held accountable for your accident before the two-year limit expires. Under this limit, victims are only allowed to legally pursue actions for their injuries within the first 24 months from the accident date. Some of the losses that compensation may cover are increasing medical bills, lost salary and benefits, surgery costs, physical therapy costs, occupational therapy costs, counseling costs, home modifications, and any other services the victim may need to perform their daily tasks.
If you have a catastrophic injury claim, you will be given the right to seek payment for your financial expenses, mental and physical suffering, and the lifetime of care you need. We will remain behind you during the entire process and guide you through each legal obstacle you encounter. We are known for having a strong arm and will not let those responsible for negligent acts off the hook without a legal battle.
What a Catastrophic Injury Attorney Can Do for You
A catastrophic injury attorney in Milledgeville, GA, can make filing a lawsuit easy and smooth. They will show you what is needed to file this lawsuit and advise you on which legal routes you should pursue. Whether settlement negotiations or a court hearing is best, catastrophic injury lawyers are always by your side to help you make the best decisions regarding your specific case.
You may think that an insurance company is providing so much help that you do not need to seek the opinion of a catastrophic injury attorney. However, insurance companies do not want you to know that you could be awarded more compensation than they offer you with an experienced lawyer’s help.
Catastrophic injury attorneys will evaluate your case, determine the direct cause of your accident, gather the facts, and find out how much money you will need to cover your current bills and the care you need in the years to come.
What a Catastrophic Injury Claim Looks Like
When a victim of a catastrophic injury decides to file a claim, they agree to seek compensation for the damages they have experienced from the accident. A catastrophic injury lawyer in Milledgeville, GA, will help you file this claim as soon as possible, and they will begin building a solid case against the defendant.
A few documents that the attorney will look over are your doctor and hospital records, statements from witnesses, reports from police officers, photos taken from the scene, and video recordings. They will also speak with medical professionals and accountants to configure how much compensation you will need for an adequate amount of life-long care and comfort.

Proving Negligence in a Catastrophic Injury Case
A Milledgeville catastrophic injury attorney from John Foy & Associates will do their best to show that your accident occurred because of another party’s negligent conduct. Negligence happens in various ways, but the legal process requires the same steps for each personal injury case, which includes the following:
- The person owed you an obligation or duty of care.
- The obligation or duty of care was not fulfilled, which means a breach occurred.
- The breach caused your accident to happen.
- You became hurt and sustained injuries due to the person’s neglectful behavior.
You cannot skip any of these steps in showing that someone else is responsible for your accident. You and your attorney will work together to ensure all four steps proving negligence are revealed.
