Insurance Companies Fight Against Whiplash Claims
After a whiplash accident, you can file a claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance company. When the insurance company sees that you have a whiplash injury, they may try to use it against you.
Whiplash injuries have developed a bad reputation. Movies and overblown legal stories have bad whiplash seem like a wild card. The insurance company might claim you’re making up whiplash as an injury to get more money. Or, the insurer might say that your head injuries are from a pre-existing injury, not the accident.
Here’s the truth: whiplash injuries are genuine. They can also be debilitating. If you have whiplash from an accident, your pain is valid. And you have a right to seek compensation for what you’ve suffered.
Proving Whiplash Injuries
After an accident that causes whiplash, you’ll need to document your injury. You can help prove whiplash injuries by:
- Getting copies of all medical bills and records
- Saving doctor notes and other evidence of your whiplash
- Having your doctor document your symptoms
- Getting an expert to help you reconstruct the accident
An Alpharetta whiplash accident lawyer can help you do all of this. Plus, your lawyer will have even more methods for documenting whiplash. You should not miss out on compensation just because the insurer doesn’t want to pay.
According to the Mayo Clinic, some people have chronic pain from whiplash. It can lead to long-term issues. However, most people heal within a few weeks after treatment.
Whether your whiplash lasts a few weeks or forever, you have rights. The at-fault party is responsible for your medical damages and more. Contact a whiplash accident lawyer to get help with your claim.
Whiplash Takes Time to Manifest
You might overlook a whiplash injury at first. After a car accident, your body is running on adrenaline. Your “fight-or-flight” hormones suppress pain so that you can focus on dealing with the accident.
After the excitement is over and you get home, the pain can set in. You might have symptoms like:
- Neck stiffness or pain
- Headaches
- Fatigue
- Numbness or tingling in the arms
- Pain or tenderness in the arms, shoulders, or upper back
- Less range of motion in the neck
- Pain when moving the neck
Some whiplash victims will also experience:
- Blurred visions
- Irritability
- Depression
- Ringing in the ears
- Problems remembering
- Trouble sleeping
- Dizziness
At the first sign of pain, see a doctor. You will need documentation of your symptoms. A doctor can also help you treat the pain and hopefully heal faster.
Seeing a doctor is also crucial for your injury claim. If you do not record your injuries, it will be hard to get insurance to take you seriously.

After a whiplash accident in Alpharetta, here are some actions to take.
Get a Copy of the Police Report

Causes of Alpharetta Whiplash Accidents
The most common reason for whiplash is a rear-end collision. Rear-end accidents whip your head forcefully back and forth. The sudden movement can stretch and tear delicate neck tissues.
Other whiplash causes can include physical trauma and contact sports.
