Why Hire Our Norcross Lyft Accident Attorneys
Lyft accident claims often depend on details like the driver’s app status, available insurance coverage, and how fault is shared under Georgia law.
Our team handles Lyft cases regularly and applies a structured approach tailored to Norcross roads and Gwinnett County courts. Our goal is to recover the full value of your injuries and losses.
You pay nothing upfront. We work on a contingency fee basis, which means our fee comes from the recovery, not out of pocket. This keeps the focus on results and removes financial pressure while your case is pending.
Clients often tell us they value clear communication and a plan that aligns with their medical recovery. From the first call through resolution, our Norcross personal injury lawyers prioritize timeliness, careful documentation, and fair compensation.
How We Build Your Lyft Case
We begin with a focused investigation that includes obtaining crash reports, identifying available video footage, requesting phone or vehicle data when relevant, and sending preservation letters for Lyft app records. Early documentation helps prevent disputes about how the crash occurred.
We also work with your medical providers to document diagnoses, treatment plans, and long-term outlook. When future losses are involved, we consult with accident reconstruction specialists or economists to accurately measure damages.
Throughout the process, our Norcross car accident lawyers keep you informed with regular updates and strategy discussions. We manage all insurer communications and prepare every case as if it could go to trial, which helps encourage fair settlement offers.
Who Can Be Held Liable Under Georgia Rideshare Law?
Liability in a Lyft accident depends on how the crash happened and who caused it. The Lyft driver may be responsible if careless or distracted driving played a role, but another driver could share or carry most of the fault. In some cases, additional parties may be involved, such as a vehicle owner, a maintenance provider, or even a parts manufacturer.
Georgia uses a modified comparative negligence rule. You can recover compensation as long as you are less than 50% at fault, but your recovery is reduced by your percentage of responsibility. To determine fault accurately, we review crash photos, video footage, vehicle data, police reports, and witness statements.
The Lyft driver’s app status also plays an important role in liability. Whether the driver was logged out of the app, waiting for a ride request, or actively transporting a passenger can affect which insurance policies apply and how much coverage is available.
Insurance Coverage After a Lyft Crash
Which insurance policy applies after a Lyft accident depends on what the driver was doing in the Lyft app at the time of the crash.
In Georgia, the at-fault party is responsible for damages, but Lyft provides different levels of insurance coverage that may apply depending on the driver’s app status.
- Driver not logged into the app: Only the driver’s personal auto insurance applies. Lyft does not provide coverage in this situation.
- Driver logged in and waiting for a ride request: Lyft provides limited liability coverage that may apply if the driver’s personal insurance does not fully cover the damages.
- Driver en route to pick up a passenger or transporting a passenger: Lyft provides higher liability coverage for injuries and property damage, along with uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage in qualifying cases.
Confirming the correct coverage often comes down to app data. Our Lyft rideshare accident attorneys in Norcross review Lyft trip records, timestamps, and driver status information to match the crash to the correct coverage period and pursue all available insurance benefits.

Steps to Take After a Lyft Accident
Your actions after a crash can shape your claim. Seek medical care quickly, even for pain that feels minor, and follow your treatment plan. Report the collision to the police and obtain the incident number for your records.
If you can safely do so:
- Photograph vehicle positions and damage from multiple angles.
- Save screenshots of the Lyft trip screen and driver details.
- Gather names, phone numbers, and emails of witnesses.
- Request nearby business or dashcam footage right away.
- Note weather, lighting, and construction conditions.
- Avoid recorded statements until you’ve spoken with a Lyft crash attorney in Norcross.
Taking these steps can help preserve evidence and reduce disputes with insurance companies as your Lyft claim moves forward.
Damages Available in a Lyft Injury Claim
Injury claims can include medical expenses, such as ER treatment, imaging, surgery, therapy, and follow-up visits. You may also recover for lost income and reduced earning capacity if your injuries affect work. Compensation for out-of-pocket costs tied to travel for care, medications, and home modifications may also be available.
Non-economic losses, such as pain and suffering, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life are also available depending on your case. If your vehicle or bicycle was damaged, you may also be able to seek property repair or replacement.
Families facing a fatal Lyft crash in Norcross may bring a wrongful death claim. Recoverable losses can include funeral costs, the full value of the life of the decedent, and related damages under Georgia law.
Deadlines That Affect Georgia Lyft Claims
Georgia law generally gives injured people two years from the date of a Lyft accident to file a personal injury lawsuit. Claims for vehicle or property damage usually have a four-year filing deadline. These time limits are strictly enforced, and missing the deadline can permanently bar your right to recover compensation.
Some cases involve shorter deadlines, such as crashes involving city or government vehicles, which may require advance notice before a lawsuit can be filed. Identifying the correct filing deadline early is important to protect your claim.
