Types of Injuries Caused by Milledgeville Rear-End Collisions

The crash forces of your vehicle being shot forward while you and your passengers remain at rest can cause serious injuries. These severe injuries include:

• Whiplash
• Brain Trauma
• Spinal Cord Injuries
• Arm and Wrist Injuries
• Compression Fractures
• Slipped or Herniated Disc
• Spinal Stenosis
• Pinched Nerves
• Facial Disfigurement
• Burns
• Lacerations

Whiplash is the most common of these injuries to occur following a rear-end accident. This is because of the crash forces from your car being propelled forward while your body remains at rest. Whiplash causes pain and strain from your neck, spine, nerves, and ligaments being hyperextended.

If you or someone you know has recently been rear-ended and is suffering any of these injuries, then it is time to call a Milledgeville personal injury lawyer. You are entitled to financial compensation because of all the pain and suffering that the at-fault driver has put you through and because of all the medical bills you have had to pay as a result of the accident. Let a John Foy associate help you with all these troubles in order to get your life back to normal as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Who Is at Fault for the Accident?

When it comes to rear-end accidents, it is not usually a question of who is at fault. This is because the trailing driver who hit the backside of the car in front of them is found to be guilty.

The more significant question is – how are they at fault? What caused them to hit the car in front of them? There are a plethora of causes for these types of motor vehicle accidents. The list includes:

• Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Driving too aggressively
• Following too closely behind the leading vehicle (tailgating)
• Improperly changing lanes
• Driving at a dangerously fast speed

The number one cause of rear-end collision is actually none of these reasons listed above. The most common cause is actually distracted driving. This can include using your cell phone, talking with your passengers, or just simply daydreaming and not thinking about watching the road.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the last 8 years of reporting, there was a total of 29,472 deaths related to distracted driving in the US. By speaking with a rear-end collision attorney in Milledgeville about your experience, you can help hold a negligent driver accountable for their actions.

Filing Your Rear-End Collision Claim Quickly

Navigating the aftermath of a rear-end traffic accident can be quite tricky. Not only do you have to deal with the crash itself, but also with the car insurance issues, medical bills, and legal battles. At John Foy & Associates, we understand if you need to take some time to yourself to sort all these things out, but we would also like to remind you that, unfortunately, you are on the clock when it comes to filing a claim.

The peach state has a statute of limitations on when you are allowed to file a legal claim for a personal injury case. According to Ga. Code §9-3-33, you have a total of two years from when you were injured in the rear-end collision to talk with a lawyer and file an official claim. Any time passed the two-year mark will result in you being unable to secure compensation for your losses. This is why it is important to seek legal counsel as soon after the accident as possible.

What to Know Before You Hire a Rear-End Accident Lawyer

Hiring a lawyer after any type of traffic accident that was not your fault and that left you with personal injuries is the best mode of action. This is because you may be entitled to a considerable amount of financial compensation for your medical costs, car damage, and loss of work, amongst other things. But there are some crucial things to know before you hire a rear-end collision attorney.

We plan on holding the at-fault driver accountable and proving their guilt in the courtroom. To effectively do this, we will collect witness testimonies, examine police crash reports, review the red light camera footage, look over the insurance damage reports on the vehicle, and take a deep dive into the background of the driver. After all of this, we will be able to prove their guilt and seek the justice that you are owed.

Obtaining your financial compensation package is another big job for your lawyers. We intend to build your case for compensation around an assembly of different factors. Winning in court is never easy, but having trusted attorneys by your side can certainly make it a whole lot less stressful for you.
