LaGrange Rideshare Accident Lawyer

Suffering injuries in a rideshare accident can leave you feeling incredibly frustrated. After all, in many cases, riders choose to take a rideshare vehicle in the first place because they find it safer than, for example, driving while inebriated, or trying to navigate in an unfamiliar area. Worse, you may find yourself wrestling with the rideshare company’s insurance as you fight for the full compensation you deserve for your injuries.

Working with a LaGrange personal injury lawyer can provide you with a better look at the compensation you might deserve for your injuries and help you fight for that much-deserved compensation.

Rideshare Insurance and Liability in LaGrange

When a rideshare driver causes an accident, that rideshare driver generally bears liability for the incident and for any damages caused by it. In most cases, that means that the accident will be covered by the rideshare driver’s insurance.

Uber and Lyft both offer comprehensive insurance policies that offer compensation when their drivers cause an accident either a) with a passenger in the vehicle or b) while actively driving to pick up a rider. Uber and Lyft may also provide compensation when a driver waits with the app on for a passenger, even if the driver does not actively have a passenger; however, under those circumstances, there may be less compensation available through the policy.

As you manage your rideshare accident claim in LaGrange, however, keep in mind that you will need to pursue compensation through the insurance policy of the driver that caused the accident. If another driver caused your rideshare accident, you may need to start by pursuing compensation through that driver’s insurance policy.

Recovering Compensation for Your LaGrange Rideshare Accident Injuries

Though rideshare drivers usually have comprehensive insurance coverage, that does not necessarily mean that you will automatically recover the compensation you deserve after an auto accident with a rideshare driver or an accident in a rideshare vehicle. Often, rideshare insurance companies will fight to minimize the compensation they have to pay out as much as possible, even in the face of substantial injuries.

Working closely with a rideshare accident lawyer in LaGrange can help give you a better idea of the compensation you should actually expect for your injuries. Talk to a lawyer about your costs related to the rideshare accident.

Medical Costs

Medical bills frequently serve as the vital foundation of a rideshare accident claim. Your medical bills frequently represent the greatest expense you have suffered as a direct result of the accident: the cost of emergency treatment, hospitalization, and, in many cases, ongoing treatment for your injuries. If you suffered severe injuries, including major back injuries or severe head trauma, you may have the right to pursue considerable compensation for the ongoing medical costs associated with those injuries.

In addition, talk to a LaGrange rideshare accident attorney about your anticipated future medical costs, since they may impact the compensation you can claim.

Lost Income

Like high medical costs, lost income can create a substantial financial burden in the immediate aftermath of a serious rideshare accident in LaGrange. Frequently, your employer may not want you to come back to work while you still have severe injury symptoms. Unfortunately, that can mean that you lose immediate income, including:

• Immediate wages
• Wages when you have follow-up appointments or procedures
• Sick and vacation time

In addition, some rideshare accident injuries can prove so severe that they may result in ongoing inability to return to your chosen industry, which could leave you with the right to pursue compensation for lost earning potential.

Pain and Suffering

Many LaGrange rideshare accident claims will also include compensation for pain and suffering: the non-financial, but still no less difficult, losses that you may face after a rideshare accident. For example, you may have to deal with substantial physical pain related to your injuries or discover that your injuries, and the limitations associated with them, cause you to suffer from considerable ongoing depression or anxiety.

A lawyer can help you learn more about how pain and suffering might influence your claim.
