What to Do If You Are Involved in a DoorDash Accident
Do your best to remain calm, cool, and collected in the moments after your accident. You have every right to feel frustrated and irritated, but keep in mind that what you say and do during this period could be used in a case against you. Here are some of the best things to do following your accident:
- Notify the authorities. Dial 911, and medical personnel and police officers will arrive to help you and others at the scene.
- Receive medical attention. Let medical professionals treat your injuries and, if they recommend it, bring you to an emergency room.
- Talk to the police. Tell police officers about your accident, and the information you share can be included in their incident report.
- Capture photos and videos. Collect visual proof, as this will help you build your case against any liable parties.
Within a few days of your accident, discuss your case with the team at John Foy & Associates. We can put you in touch with a DoorDash accident lawyer serving Augusta, GA, who prioritizes your best interests. Consult with an Augusta car accident lawyer from our team.
Who Is Responsible for a DoorDash Accident?
The at-fault parties vary based on the accident itself. In many instances, a DoorDash driver is liable. If the driver was working for DoorDash and made a mistake behind the wheel that led to your accident, you can request damages from them.
There are times when DoorDash is liable for an accident. Another driver, a government entity, or other third parties can also be at fault. To determine liability for your accident, ask an Augusta DoorDash accident attorney to examine your case in depth.
A personal injury lawyer serving Augusta learns about your DoorDash accident. Once they identify any at-fault parties, they can seek damages on your behalf. As part of their efforts, your attorney can negotiate an insurance settlement or file a personal injury lawsuit.
How a DoorDash Accident Case Works
A DoorDash accident attorney serving Augusta, GA, can guide you through your legal proceedings. Initially, they could request compensation through an insurance claim. With this, you ask the at-fault driver’s insurer or DoorDash’s insurance provider to cover your losses.
In one of the best-case scenarios, an insurance company pays your claim in full. Unfortunately, this rarely happens, as an insurer is likely to look out for its bottom line over your best interests. Instead, a car insurance company can refuse to pay your claim, which may prompt further legal action.
If an insurance provider chooses to dispute your claim or your lawyer cannot negotiate a fair settlement with them, you still have options. In this situation, you can submit a lawsuit. This gives you the opportunity to request damages accounting for your quantifiable and subjective losses.

Damages You Can Get in an Augusta DoorDash Accident Lawsuit
An at-fault party’s auto insurance company may offer limited compensation for losses relating to your DoorDash accident. This may provide you with a portion of the money you need to recover fully from the incident. In a DoorDash accident lawsuit, you can ask for economic and non-economic damages to cover a wide range of losses, including:
- Car repairs or replacement
- Medical bills
- Lost income
- Loss of enjoyment
- Pain and suffering
Filing a lawsuit may seem overwhelming at first. In the big picture, this is a viable option. If you hire an Augusta personal injury lawyer as your legal representative, you are well-positioned to secure the most damages possible.
How Much Time Do You Have to File Your Lawsuit?
You have up to two years from the date you suffer a personal injury to sue for damages. This limits the amount of time you have to pursue compensation from anyone liable for your DoorDash accident. If you wait too long, you can be solely responsible for your accident-related losses.
Avoid missing the deadline for filing a lawsuit by getting help from a personal injury attorney as soon as you can after your accident. Your lawyer submits your request for damages promptly. They gather evidence to support your argument, helping you prove you are in no way liable for the incident.
Proof you can use in your lawsuit can include accident scene photos and videos, medical records, and witness statements. If you have an abundance of evidence, it can be tough for the defendant in your lawsuit to contest your lawsuit. Plus, a judge or jury may clearly see why you should be awarded full damages.
