What Damages Can I Claim After a Truck Accident?
The negative consequences of a personal injury case are called damages. If an accident with an XPO Logistics truck has left you injured, the damages you can seek financial compensation for through a legal claim include:
- Medical Expenses: All past and future costs for doctor’s visits, hospitalization, therapy, medications, medical equipment, surgeries, etc.
- Lost Wages: Income lost from being unable to work due to accident-related injuries.
- Pain and Suffering: Compensation for physical and emotional hardships as a result of crash injuries.
- Disability/Disfigurement: For permanent loss of capabilities or cosmetic deformities.
- Property Damage: Repair/replacement costs for personal possessions damaged in the accident.
- Loss of Consortium: Awarded when the injury prevents fulfilling family responsibilities/roles.
- Punitive Damages: Awarded in rare cases involving especially reckless or malicious behavior.
Not all cases will qualify for all of these, and any damages must be supported by evidence. However, your case is probably worth more than you think. XPO’s insurers may try to send you a lowball offer to get you to settle early.
Never accept an insurance company offer before taking it to a personal injury lawyer you trust. They can tell you if it’s a fair value or not and what you can do to get the full value of your claim if it isn’t.
