A Closer Look at the Drunk Driving Dangers That You Could Face on Super Bowl Sunday

Those who attend Super Bowl parties and consume excessive amounts of alcohol shouldn’t get behind the wheel. Otherwise, they are increasingly susceptible to car accidents that result in injuries and fatalities.
As people make their way to Super Bowl Sunday festivities, the volume of traffic rises in cities and towns across the United States. More cars on the roads means there’s a higher risk of accidents. This is especially true if a motorist chooses to engage in drunk driving.
Outside of these intoxicated driving dangers on Super Bowl Sunday, late-night travel can be an issue. If a motorist is intoxicated and traveling at night after the Big Game, they may not see other motorists or pedestrians on the road.

How to Protect Against Drunk Driving Risks on Super Bowl Sunday
On Super Bowl Sunday, fans shouldn’t let fans drive drunk. Take precautions to protect yourself and others against intoxicated driving risks on Super Bowl Sunday.
Here are some of the NHTSA’s tips to minimize the risk of drunk driving dangers before, during, and after the Big Game:
- Follow the rules. Remember, if the police pull you over while you’re driving and find that your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) exceeds the legal limit on Super Bowl Sunday, you will be punished to the full extent of the law. As such, it’s in your best interests and those of other motorists and pedestrians to comply with drunk driving regulations.
- Err on the side of caution. Leave nothing to chance if you feel like you’re unable to drive. Rather than risk getting into a car accident, book a rideshare or taxi or ask a family member or friend to drive you from point A to point B on Super Bowl Sunday.
- Offer help to those in need. Assist family members and friends who are tempted to drive but may be intoxicated. Provide them with a place to stay overnight after the Super Bowl, book them a rideshare or taxi, or drive them home if you’re able to do so safely.
These tips are difference-makers for those who want to avoid drunk driving accidents on Super Bowl Sunday. However, you have no control over the actions of others.
