Clergy sexual abuse is a devastating violation of trust that can leave survivors grappling with emotional, physical, and spiritual wounds. Coming forward takes courage, and the idea of seeking justice can seem overwhelming.
Since 1999, we’ve been helping survivors. We know what it takes to stand against religious institutions who try to cover up what happened. Our Macon sexual abuse lawyers will provide compassionate guidance every step of the way.
If you or someone you love has been harmed, you don’t have to face this alone. The Macon clergy sexual abuse lawyers of John Foy & Associates are committed to helping survivors seek accountability and begin the journey toward healing.
What if the Abuse Happened Years Ago?
Many survivors don’t come forward until years—or even decades—after the abuse occurred. This delay is completely normal. Processing trauma takes time, and the decision to seek justice is deeply personal.
Fortunately, Georgia law recognizes this and has provisions that allow survivors to pursue claims even for older cases, depending on the circumstances. Don’t assume it’s too late to take action. Contacting a clergy sexual abuse lawyer in Macon is the best way to determine your options.
Will I Have to Go to Court?
Not necessarily. Many clergy sexual abuse cases are resolved through settlements, which means you may not need to testify in court. That said, if a trial is required, we’ll be with you every step of the way—providing support, guidance, and preparation to help you feel as comfortable as possible.
Our Macon personal injury lawyers will always prioritize your well-being and keep you informed throughout the process, so there are no surprises. If going to court becomes necessary, we’ll ensure you’re fully prepared and supported, working to minimize stress and make the experience as smooth as possible.
Your comfort and healing remain our top priorities.

What Should I Do if I Suspect Clergy Sexual Abuse?
If you suspect that you or someone you care about has been a victim of clergy sexual abuse, here are some steps you can take:
- Ensure Safety: If the individual is still at risk, take immediate steps to remove them from harm. Prioritize their physical and emotional well-being by creating a safe and supportive environment.
- Document What You Know: Write down key details, such as dates, locations, and names. Include any additional information about the context of the abuse or patterns of behavior. These details may be crucial in building a strong case later.
- Seek Support: Talking to a trusted friend, therapist, or support group can help you or your loved one process emotions and begin the healing journey. Professional guidance can be very helpful.
