It is tragic when a young person who has their entire life ahead of them dies in an accident. Family members and loved ones often look for a reason behind the accident. Police often try and recreate accident scenes to find these answers.
After a young woman was hit and killed by a truck, Atlanta police began recreating the accident on Friday, May 27.
Ke’Anna K. Shields, 21, of Atlanta, was standing at a bus stop at the intersection of Pryor Street and Amal drive when she was struck by the pickup truck. Shields was eight months pregnant. Both Shields and her unborn child died at the scene.
Shields’ mother stated that her daughter had been on her way to pick up her cap and gown from school at the time of the accident. She had also been recently married.
According to Shields’ mother, the driver of the pickup truck was suffering from an unknown medical emergency when he lost control of the truck, hit another car, and was sent careening into Shields.
Sources told media that when medics arrived, the driver was disorientated and foaming at the mouth.
Police said that the driver was rushed to the hospital. There were no further details on the driver’s condition.
