In Union City, around 2:15 on Tuesday morning, authorities responded to a call for help at the Walmart on Jonesboro Road. Initially, they needed help arresting a woman for bank card fraud. Now, it’s grown to be much more than that.
As an officer was collecting information on the scene, the woman was handcuffed in the backseat of his patrol car. Left alone in the car, she was able to reposition her hands to the front of her body instead of the back. From there, she pried the passage portal open between the front and back seats. She then was able to maneuver herself through the portal, landing in the front seat. To her benefit, the patrol car was left still running, allowing her a quick getaway.
She took off, headed north on I-85. Eventually, she collided with another vehicle. After the crashing the squad car, she immediately exited the vehicle and ran off. She has still not been found.
Driving recklessly and fleeing the scene of an accident are both not only dangerous, but illegal. If you are ever a victim due to such actions, make sure you contact an attorney for legal assistance.
