WTVM Channel 9 ABC News reported recently that a woman was killed in Columbus in the early morning hours of December 16 after she exited her vehicle following a car wreck on Interstate 185.
The incident took place between 3:05 a.m. and 3:20 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) along the busy I-185 corridor in Columbus, GA. A woman from Fort Mitchell, AL, 28 years of age, was southbound on I-185 when she struck the concrete center wall dividing the northbound and southbound lanes of the freeway. According to the Muscogee County Coroner, she exited her vehicle and was then struck by another southbound vehicle, and died from the injuries sustained in the accident.
The Georgia Department of Transportation reported that the accident shut down all lanes of I-185 for investigation and cleanup for several hours before reopening later that morning.
