We talk about accidents a lot on this blog, but today we want to turn it to a group of people who are among the safest drivers on the road. You might not like how that UPS driver takes their time, but there are thousands of drivers of the big brown trucks who haven’t been in an accident in over 25 years.
According to the AJC, UPS has added around 1,500 more people to the list who have reached this milestone. Among the nearly 10,000 drivers who have reached this goal, 384 drivers in Georgia have done it. The driver in Georgia that has gone the longest has done it for 42 years. The record nationwide is 54.
How do they do that? A rigorous driver safety course that all drivers are required to take and get updated on to keep their jobs. Drivers are required to keep their eyes moving at all times and to always leave space in front and to one side of their vehicle so they have a way to avoid an incident.
This is an impressive milestone, especially given Georgia’s traffic patterns. Congratulations to the drivers who have made it this far. Here’s hoping your streak will continue.
