The Georgia Department of Public Safety has a division called the Motor Carrier Compliance Division. The division is concerned with the enhancement of highway safety regarding commercial vehicles. Officers with the MCCD perform in-depth safety inspections of the commercial vehicle, the operator, and the load to ensure that there is no identifiable risk to the public. They focus their efforts on two types of investigations: Investigative Safety Analysis and Safety Audits. The Investigative Safety Analysis concerns itself with compliance with the applicable safety and hazardous materials regulations. The MCCD also oversees the School Bus Safety Unit and the enforcement of the HOV/HOT lanes in Atlanta.
WGXA reports that Bibb County Deputies were working on a crash involving a tractor-trailer.
