11 Alive News reported recently on two deadly accidents in DeKalb County that caused two fatalities and badly snarled traffic in the suburbs of Atlanta last Monday.
In one accident, all lanes of Interstate 285 southbound were shut down at the Glenwood Road exit, near the I-285 interchange with Interstate 20, for nearly four hours between 10:50 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. This accident involved both a car and a utility vehicle; the driver of the utility vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The accident forced vehicles to detour onto I-20 due to long delays.
In the second incident, five out of seven lanes on Interstate 85 near Chamblee-Tucker Road were shut down after a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles, including a semi-truck and tow truck, at 10:15 a.m. That accident killed a 39-year-old woman.
