11 Alive reported recently that a truck accident nearly became a major calamity in DeKalb County Monday morning as a commercial truck crashed into a wall along a bridge over the Stone Mountain Freeway in Metro Atlanta.
According to officials with the DeKalb County Police Department, the incident happened early Monday morning on Mountain Industrial Boulevard where it crosses over U.S. Highway 78. A commercial truck slammed into the wall on the side of the bridge and almost went straight through the wall, teetering precariously over the freeway running under the bridge.
The accident closed both northbound and southbound sides of Mountain Industrial Boulevard as well as the eastbound lanes of the Stone Mountain Freeway for several hours while a wrecker carefully pulled the truck back from the precipice. Police urged motorists to avoid the area.
