The Takata airbag recall keeps getting larger and larger. Nearly every manufacturer has used Takata airbags at some point. The faulty igniters in the bags can cause the canisters to rupture and send shrapnel through the driver in humid conditions. If you have a vehicle on the recall list, you need to get it fixed as soon as possible.
The latest cars to be added from Toyota are:
- 2008-2009 Scion xB
- 2012 Corolla and Corolla Matrix
- 2012 Yaris
- 2012 4Runners and Siennas
- 2006-2012 Lexus
In all, this adds over another half million vehicles to this recall. So far the igniters have killed 16 people worldwide and injured around 180. The current confirmed list of recalled makes and models can be found at the NHTSA’s website at https://www.safercar.gov/rs/takata/takatalist.html. However, this list will need updating with this latest release of recalled vehicles.
The Takata Airbag recall is one of the largest recalls in history. It is very likely that you own a vehicle affected by the recall, or that you know someone who is. Only three manufacturers in the world make airbags and Takata is the largest of them. You need to take action to get your airbag replaced, especially if you live in a humid area.
Do you believe you’ve been injured by an airbag? Are you unable to get replacement parts for your vehicle and can’t sell it? You may be able to join a class-action lawsuit against Takata for the faulty airbags. Contact John Foy & Associates today for a free consultation about your situation.
