A large number of car accidents are caused when a driver loses control of their vehicle. While this can sometimes be traced to a mechanical defect or medical emergency, in other situations, it is totally avoidable. Staying focused on the road and keeping distractions, like cellphones, at bay can be key to keeping yourself from losing control. In addition to being focused on the task of driving, you also need to remain alert to the situations around you. Finally, keeping a weather eye on the drivers around you can also keep you in control of your vehicle. Obeying speed limits and driving appropriately for conditions can keep your vehicle under control.
The Canton-Sixes Patch reports on a fatal accident that killed two men. Cherokee Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a three-vehicle accident Saturday night at about 9 p.m. The accident occurred on Knox Bridge Highway west of Highway 108.
Preliminary findings show that a BMW was traveling west on Knox Bridge when it crossed the center line while negotiating a curve. The BMW struck a Honda Fit that was heading eastbound.
After this collision, the BMW crossed the center line once more, being struck by a Honda Accord that was heading towards Canton.
35-year-old Joshua Kellogg, the driver of the BMW, and his passenger, 35-year-old Jimmy Chester, were both killed in the accident. 32-year-old Brandon Smith, the driver of the Honda, suffered from serious injuries. Smith’s 3-year-old daughter was also injured. Their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
The driver of the Honda Fit was not injured. However, his mother, who was a passenger, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
