In the early hours on September 21st 2013, a fatal motorcycle accident shut down the Holcomb Bridge Road off of the Georgia 400. It is believed that the driver of the motorcycle hit the median wall and lost control of the bike. The passenger, a 28 year old female, was thrown into the street and run over by a black Jeep Liberty that fled the scene.
The driver of the motorcycle, the victim’s brother, was taken to the local hospital and treated for minor injuries. Upon his release from the hospital he was arrested for Homicide by Vehicle, DUI and several other violations. The local police are asking for help in locating the owner of the Jeep Liberty that was involved. The driver of this vehicle is currently at large by the local police for leaving the scene of an accident.
Around the same time on Interstate 285 two cars were sitting in the first lane from the median wall. One of the vehicles had transmission problems and the other had stopped to help. Both vehicles are said to have had their warning flashers on for any additional traffic that may be out in the early morning hours. Three motorcycles were traveling down the interstate in the same lane at this time it is not clear if the bikers didn’t see the cars or there was another issue. But first two motorcyclists hit the back of the car that had stopped to aid the broken down vehicle completely ejecting one of the riders from the motorcycle. The third cyclist hit debris from the crash, overturned and threw the rider. Two of the three riders were killed in the crash and the other was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries.
The third accident took place on the night of the 20th when the driver of a motorcycle veered of the Cobb Pkwy and lost control. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he did not survive his injuries.
