Newschannel 6 in Augusta, Georgia reports that three teenagers were killed in a horrifying accident Monday evening.
Richmond County Sheriff deputies responded to the accident, which occurred on Walton Way at the intersection with Malvern Lane, ear Langford Middle School. The vehicle was traveling westbound on Walton Way when it left the roadway and struck a tree on the other side of the road at a reportedly high rate of speed. There has been no reason given for the loss of control on the roadway.
According to the Richmond County Coroner, two seventeen-year-olds and an eighteen-year-old were killed in the collision, two from Martinez and one from Augusta. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, at approximately 9:50 pm on Monday. Two of the victims were rising seniors at Augusta-area high schools, one at Westside High School and one at Lakeside High School, according to spokespeople from Richmond County Schools and Columbia County Schools.
No other details have been released, but the crash reportedly remains under investigation.
