The Montgomery Advertiser reports on a man who did all of these things and added to his charges by assaulting a police officer.
Broderick Sanders, 22, first stole the 2004 Honda Accord from the 5400 block of Wares Ferry Road. Shortly after stealing the vehicle, Sanders became involved in an accident with a 2012 Jeep Compass.
The accident happened on September 1st at around 8 p.m. in the 3600 block of Atlanta Highway. Following the accident, Sanders exited the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene on foot.
Later, Sanders became combative when a Montgomery Police officer attempted to take him into custody. The incident led to the officer receiving minor injuries.
Sanders was taken to a hospital to receive treatment from the injuries he suffered in the crash. The driver of the Jeep was also taken to the hospital. Both had non-life-threatening injuries.
Sanders was taken into custody after being released from the hospital. He is currently being held on $22,500 bond. He faces charges of assaulting a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident that involved injury and theft.
