It is always tragic when someone loses their life as the result of an accident. Even more tragic when multiple family members are affected and lost. In Cass County, Texas, two grandparents were killed and their granddaughter is fighting for her life following an accident. The accident occurred on November 19th on Highway 59 South early in the morning.
A Texas Department of Public Service spokesperson reported that New Orleans native James Clark was driving southbound on Highway 59 at approximately 7:30 a.m. The driver and his passenger were occupying a 2016 Peterbilt tractor trailer. A 2007 Saturn pulled into the path of the tractor trailer from FM 2328. Clark was unable to stop his vehicle in time to avoid an accident.
The driver of the Saturn, Marvin Hodges, and his passenger, Jeanette Hodges, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Another passenger, their granddaughter, suffered severe injuries and was taken to Christus St. Michael Hospital. The child was later taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. The child remains in the pediatric intensive care unit.
Neither Clark nor his passenger was injured in the crash.
