There are times when an accident leads police to an ever bigger discovery. Accidents have been the reason police have discovered drunk drivers, drug traffickers, and other criminals. An accident in Butts County, Georgia led to just such a discovery.
Last Thursday morning, an accident in Butts County, Georgia led police to discover a rolling meth lab.
Jeremy Fulghum, 31 and Dustin McMillan, 35 were both arrested and face charges in connection with the rolling meth lab. This is according to a report from the Gordon County Sheriff’s Department.
The discovery came in the wake of an accident that occurred on Interstate 75 near Highway 36. Investigators say the vehicle was driving in the southbound lanes of the interstate when it hit the guardrail and proceeded into the northbound lanes. Deputies who responded to the crash reported discovering explosive materials inside the car.
The resulting investigation closed all northbound lanes of the interstate, resulting in major traffic delays.
The investigation determined that the two suspects were inside the vehicle and that the driver fell asleep at the wheel. They were both treated for minor injuries before being taken into custody. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation took part in the investigation process.
Inside the vehicle were several white buckets. Authorities indicate that the materials inside the buckets were consistent with the production of methamphetamine.
