A witness captured heart-stopping live video of a tractor-trailer stuck on the railroad tracks with an oncoming train. Even more remarkable is the fact that the couple inside the tractor trailer escaped without a scratch.
The accident occurred in the city of Norcross. A spokesperson for the Norcross police say that the tractor-trailer became stuck on the tracks. The spokesperson also added the fact that there are signs telling drivers that tractor-trailers should not attempt to cross the tracks.
Lt. Jeff Thornton and officer Rochelle Bonner helped to save the driver and the passenger of the tractor-trailer. They also likely saved people walking in downtown Norcross.
“The officers risked their safety to run towards the incident to make sure the driver and his passenger were out before the train hit.”
These were the words of Sgt. Butynski of the Norcross Police Department.
Police and residents of downtown Norcross say that despite signs saying “no trucks,” big rig drivers often ignore them. Until the crossing arm at the tracks is repaired, drivers will have to find another way around the railroad tracks. The driver of the tractor trailer received several driving citations that will likely cost him thousands of dollars.
According to the police spokesperson, there was no one injured in the accident.
